Post-Super Bowl 7-Round Mock Draft

I added in projected compensatory picks from OTC and the compensatory picks from the new minority candidate development rule. Not sure how those are supposed to be structured in, so I simply used the OTC ones first in the order, but took off the last 3 estimated compensatory picks to ensure it remained at a simple 32 compensatory picks added. So apologies to the Cowboys, Bears, and Steelers. You might have been robbed of a pick but I don't know the specifics of how all those will be factored in. If someone knows the actual way those will set-up, that'd be useful information. Going to provide commentary on rounds 1-3 then maybe the occasional commentary after that if I really like a fit.
Also, there's a chance that I missed someone announcing they were returning to school or not. Just let me know if so.

Pre-Draft Trades

Using the terms suggested from a SB Nation article, so yell at them if you hate it: CAR sends: QB Teddy Bridgewater, 2021, 2022, 2023 first-round picks, 2021, 2022 second-round picks HOU sends: QB Deshaun Watson
The Panthers have drafted relatively well the last 2-3 years, as they have several younger pieces they can continue building around. Thus, a major package to land QB Deshaun Watson should be something they explore. For Houston, a king's ransom for a disgruntled star who really wants out.
An NFC championship contender adds a big piece to their offense: GB sends: 2021 second-round pick, 2022 fifth-round pick DAL sends: WR Michael Gallup, 2021 seventh-round pick
The Packers add some extra firepower on offense by adding Gallup. With Rodgers window coming to a close, the Packers take a chance that an established veteran like Gallup will do more for them than a very late second-round pick. Dallas has Amari Cooper and now CeeDee Lamb at WR, making Gallup expendable if they get a good offer for him.
An NFC playoff team makes a splash at the quarterback position: WAS sends: 2021 fourth-round pick, 2022 seventh-round pick JAC sends: QB Gardner Minshew
While the Redskins did not land Stafford, they could still find a solid upgrade at the QB position by bringing in Gardner Minshew. I love how he fits in Scott Turner's offense, and think this would be a decent enough price to pay to give them some stability at the position.

First Round

(1) Jacksonville Jaguars - QB Trevor Lawrence, Clemson - I'd imagine even though it's the only pick that never changes, Jaguars fans aren't bored of seeing this. Lawrence is a special player and their best bet at turning things around in a hurry.
(2) New York Jets - QB Zach Wilson, BYU - There still could be a small chance that the Jets stick with Sam Darnold, but we're going to go ahead and give Darnold a fresh-start somewhere else (trade to be revealed later). I have Fields a smidge higher than Zach Wilson, but could easily see him being the selection here. I think Wilson's a better fit, however, for LaFleur's Shanahan style offense. Either way, a talented QB for the Jets and head coach Robert Saleh (great f***ing hire btw Jets fans).
(3) Miami Dolphins (via HOU) - OT Penei Sewell, Oregon - With the Panthers giving up a haul for Deshaun Watson, the Dolphins may not have a lot of options to trade out of this spot. Thus, they stick tight and land an elite pass protector for QB Tua Tagovailoa.
(4) Atlanta Falcons - QB Justin Fields, Ohio State - Personally, I love the idea of Fields coming back home to Georgia to sit behind Matt Ryan for a season. The Falcons, and new head coach Arthur Smith, would be wise to take a QB while they're in a natural position to snag one. Ryan will start 2021 for sure due to his contract, but if things go well, they could make a Mahomes like transition to Fields into 2022.
(5) Cincinnati Bengals - OT Rashawn Slater, Northwestern - There a lot of buzz that Slater could be above Sewell in the mind of many NFL executives. Either way, it's a strong pick for the Bengals and Joe Burrow to land a top offensive tackle.
TRADE! The Patriots send their 2021 1st (1.15) along with a 2021 3rd (3.98) and a 2022 1st to the Eagles to move up to their selection at 6.
(6) New England Patriots (via PHI) - QB Trey Lance, North Dakota State - The Patriots need to make a significant investment in the QB position, as neither Cam Newton nor Jarrett Sitdham looked like the answer for them in 2020. Here they make a splash trade to move up and grab Lance, a player with immense physical talent. Ideally they'd land a veteran QB like Ryan Fitzpatrick to start in 2021 while they let Lance develop.
(7) Detroit Lions - WR Devonta Smith, Alabama - One thing lost in the Stafford-Goff trade is Detroit essentially nuking its cap space by bringing in Goff's $28 million deal. Now $11 million over the estimated cap, the Lions do not seem likely to retain WR Kenny Golladay at this point. They need a replacement for Goff to throw to while they determine if he'll be around longer than 2021.
(8) Houston Texans (via CAR) - CB Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech - Without a QB available here, the Texans play it patient, letting newly acquired Teddy Bridgewater run the show in 2021. They instead my personal top choice at corner this year, Virginia Tech's Caleb Farley. For a defense that needs to get turned around, he represents an excellent building block for them.
TRADE! The Miami Dolphins get aggressive here, sending their second first-round pick (1.18), a 2021 3rd (3.82) and a 2022 2nd round pick, and swap 2nds with Denver to move up here.
(9) Miami Dolphins (via DEN) - WR Ja'Marr Chase, LSU - The Dolphins go land a premier wide receiver target for QB Tua Tagovailoa to throw to. Chase and Smith will be widely debated for the top wide receiver honors in this draft class. Miami would likely be elated to add either one of them.
(10) Dallas Cowboys - CB Patrick Surtain II, Alabama - Surtain may not be my top cornerback, but the Cowboys should have no hesitation adding him here at tenth overall, especially considering the dire state of their defense.
(11) New York Giants - EDGE Kwity Paye, Michigan - Paye is an exceptional athletic talent. Much like fellow Wolverine Rashan Gary coming out of Ann Arbor, he's still got plenty of room to grow into an elite rusher. He was dominant in the first few games for the Wolverines in an otherwise rough 2020 season for Harbaugh and co.
(12) San Francisco 49ers - CB Jaycee Horn, South Carolina - I have top-15 grades on all three of the corners listed so far, so this remains excellent value in my opinion for the 49ers. They're likely going to lose a handful of cornerbacks to free agency this year, so landing a premier rookie to develop into a stud for DeMeco Ryans defense is a priority.
(13) Los Angeles Chargers - OT Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech - An excellent group of tackles in this year's draft class is a big benefit for the Chargers, as they're able to land a premier prospect like Darrisaw. He'll fit well in new offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's offense in his second-go as a play-caller.
(14) Minnesota Vikings - T/G Alijah Vera-Tucker, USC - Vera-Tucker has the flexibility to play tackle or move inside to guard. The Vikings have a similar player in Ezra Cleveland, which should give them the ability to move some guys around and find the ideal pairing here.
(15) Philadelphia Eagles - EDGE Gregory Rousseau, Miami - The Eagles probably have some positional needs above this, but it'd be a mistake to go for a worse player at a lesser player, thus the selection of Rousseau. He's an elite athlete and was incredibly disruptive for the Hurricanes in 2019. With Brandon Graham getting up there in age, and Vinny Curry set to hit free agency, this selection goes best player available with the near future in mind.
(16) Arizona Cardinals - TE Kyle Pitts, Florida - The Cardinals could use a monsterous pass catcher like Pitts to pair with DeAndre Hopkins. With some strong flashes from QB Kyler Murray in 2020, adding one more weapon could provide the breakthrough the Cardinals need to make it into the playoffs.
TRADE! The Steelers make a move up, sending a 1st (1.24), their third (3.88) and a 2022 fifth to move up and make the selection here instead of the Raiders.
(17) Pittsburgh Steelers - OT Samuel Cosmi, Texas - Jumping ahead of a couple of OT-needy teams in the WFT and the Bears, Pittsburgh gets its future franchise pass protector. Cosmi's film shows a highly athletic tackle who has gotten better each season in Austin. Put in a strong program under Mike Tomlin, I think Cosmi can thrive as a future All-Pro.
(18) Denver Broncos (via MIA) - LB Micah Parsons, Penn State - The Broncos land an absolute steal here with Parsons, an elite blend of size and speed at the LB position. Additionally, his versatility should be a weapon for Vic Fangio to deploy, as he's capable of filling multiple roles on any defense.
(19) Washington Football Team - WR Jaylen Waddle, Alabama - I think a bigger wide receiver would work a bit better, but Scott Turner's creativity in building an offense around mostly role/gadget players like Logan Thomas and Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic gives me confidence he can make it work with an elite talent like Waddle.
(20) Chicago Bears - G Wyatt Davis, Ohio State - The Bears could probably go for a tackle a little bit more than a guard, but beggars cannot be choosers this late into the first-round. They land an elite interior lineman to immediately give a boost to their offensive line.
(21) Indianapolis Colts - QB Mac Jones, Alabama - Philip Rivers retired, Jacoby Brissett is a free agent, and Jacob Eason wasn't active for a single game. Add it all together and it looks like the Colts are in need of a QB like Jones. A decisive passer with a good deep ball, he'll be a nice addition for Frank Reich to mentor.
(22) Tennessee Titans - EDGE Jaelan Phillips, Miami - The Titans pass rusher was miserable this past season. Injecting some youth and athleticism into the equation could help Mike Vrabel get his defense back on track. Phillips was excellent for the Hurricanes in 2020.
(23) New York Jets (via SEA) - OT Alex Leatherwood, Alabama - The Jets add another big body here to pair on the other side of LT Mekhi Becton. With those two in town, new QB Zach Wilson should feel quite comfortable in the pocket.
(24) Las Vegas Raiders (via PIT) - DT Christian Barmore, Alabama - The sixth Crimson Tide player selected, Barmore was dominant the second half of the season in Tuscaloosa. He'd fill a big need on Ken Whisenhu...I mean, Gus Bradley's defense here in Vegas.
(25) Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR) - WR Kadarius Toney, Florida - The Jaguars give Trevor Lawrence an explosive weapon to throw to. Toney lit up the SEC this season and was very impressive at the Senior Bowl. He'd join former Florida head coach Urban Meyer a short drive away.
(26) Cleveland Browns - DT Daviyon Nixon, Iowa - The Browns drafting this late with their own selection is a sign of how far they've come in recent years. They now have the ability to sit back and take the best player on the board in Nixon, a dominant pass rusher who came on strong in Big Ten play this year.
(27) Baltimore Ravens - WR Rashod Bateman, Minnesota - I believe I've had this pick in the last mock I did as well, but it makes way too much sense. The Ravens need a top option at wide receiver and Bateman's a crafty player who fits their offense well.
(28) New Orleans Saints - CB Aaron Robinson, UCF - Robinson is a very underrated corner in this draft, and I really think he'll have a shot to land in the first-round. A quick player who always ends up in the right position, he'd be an excellent addition to the Saints defense.
(29) Green Bay Packers - LB Nick Bolton, Missouri - The Packers need some fresh blood at the second level, and Bolton's an absolute missile who flies all over the field. Bolton would fit really well in the middle of their defense, especially if the Packers hire a 3-4 zone blitz genius like Jim Leonhard as their new coordinator.
(30) Buffalo Bills - EDGE Azeez Ojulari, Georgia - A debate here between Ojulari and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, but ultimately think the depth at LB is a bit better in this class then pass rusher. So, Ojulari joins Sean McDermott's defense in Buffalo.
(31) Kansas City Chiefs - iOL Creed Humphrey, Oklahoma - The Chiefs need to add a starting caliber player to the interior of their offense line, and if Humphrey slides to them in the first-round, that'd be excellent value for them.
(32) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - RB Najee Harris, Alabama - Congratulations Bucs fans and the Brady bandwagon! Now, don't get too caught up on the position, the best way to maintain your dominance is to continue adding elite pieces, and Harris is a potential star at the RB position. Excellent in-between the tackles as well as in the passing game.

Second Round

(33) Jacksonville Jaguars - S Trevon Moehrig, TCU - I almost thought about Moehrig with their second first-round pick, but ultimately he still lands in Jacksonville.
(34) New York Jets - RB Travis Etienne, Clemson - The Jets have the cap space to add a veteran WR like Allen Robinson or Kenny Golladay, so use the draft to add a stellar running back.
(35) Atlanta Falcons - CB Erik Stokes, Georgia - Another Georgia player sticking around, as Stokes gives them an excellent option to develop alongside Terrell.
(36) Denver Broncos (via MIA) - CB Greg Newsome II, Northwestern - A rising star at the cornerback position, Newsome fits well into Fangio's defense.
(37) Philadelphia Eagles - WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, USC - After adding an edge rusher earlier, the Eagles add a top wideout in the Trojan's star.
(38) Cincinnati Bengals - G Deonte Brown, Alabama - The Bengals, after trading for another starting guard earlier, continue to overhaul their line.
(39) Houston Texans (via CAR) - EDGE Joseph Ossai, Texas - The Texans add some pass rushing help on the edge of their front seven with Ossai.
(40) Miami Dolphins (via DEN) - OLB Zaven Collins, Tulsa - Collins is an ideal fit for Brian Flores, as he can lineup in a handful of different spots, similar to some of the linebackers he's worked with in Miami and New England.
(41) Detroit Lions - LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Notre Dame - The Lions add a rangy linebacker who can give them some much needed at the position.
(42) New York Giants - G Trey Smith, Tennessee - The Giants get an upgrade along the offensive with a powerful guard like Smith.
(43) San Francisco 49ers - DT Levi Onwuzurike, Washington - The 49ers add an elite defensive tackle to pair with Javon Kinlaw on the inside.
(44) Dallas Cowboys - OT Dillon Radunz, North Dakota State - The Cowboys went defense earlier, but add a talented offensive lineman to restock the trenches here.
(45) Jacksonville Jaguars - TE Pat Freiermuth, Penn State - If Freiermuth falls to the Jags here that'd be an absolute steal. A high-caliber tight end who can do everything needed at the position.
(46) New England Patriots - WR Terrace Marshall Jr., LSU - The Patriots, even if they add a QB, still need more weapons at WR. Marshall is an excellent one.
(47) Los Angeles Chargers - CB Ifeatu Melifonwu, Syracuse - The Chargers give new head coach Brandon Staley an elite athlete to mold into a dominant cornerback for them.
(48) Las Vegas Raiders - EDGE Joe Tryon, Washington - The Raiders bring in another talent piece of Washington 2019 defensive line. He's got a high motor along with immense upside.
TRADE! The Colts hop in front of the Dolphins to land their guy. They send a 2022 3rd round pick along with their second (2.54) here to the Cardinals in exchange for this selection and a 2022 7th round pick.
(49) Indianapolis Colts (via ARI) - EDGE Carlos Basham, Wake Forest - I think Basham could definitely go higher than this, but if he's available in the second, the Colts should jump up to land him.
(50) Miami Dolphins - S Jevon Holland, Oregon - The Dolphins add a playmaking safety to join their defense. Holland was an excellent leader on defense for the Ducks.
(51) Washington Football Team - OT Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State - Washington has gotten serviceable production from a pair of aging OT's in Moses and Lucas. They add a developmental tackle to replace them soon enough.
(52) Chicago Bears - WR Nico Collins, Michigan - The Bears could see star WR Allen Robinson walk in free agency. Adding a deep threat like Collins to pair with Mooney would be fun.
(53) Tennessee Titans - OT Jalen Mayfield, Michigan - Another Wolverine in the second round here, Mayfield would give the Titans a strong Michigan-based tackle duo with Taylor Lewan's return.
(54) Arizona Cardinals (via IND) - iOL Landon Dickerson, Alabama - A tough, hard-nosed player on the interior, Dickerson can play a handful of spots, making him a versatile addition to the Cardinals line.
(55) Pittsburgh Steelers - RB Javonte Williams, North Carolina - The Steelers add a stud running back to help revive their run game.
(56) Seattle Seahawks - EDGE Jayson Oweh, Penn State - The Seahawks could use some pass rush. Oweh's a bit raw, but can develop into a useful piece for Pete Carroll.
(57) Los Angeles Rams - LB Chazz Surratt, North Carolina - The Rams add an athletic player at the second-level to keep their defense playing elite football. With the addition of QB Matthew Stafford, the Rams could be serious contenders for the NFC title in 2021.
(58) Baltimore Ravens - EDGE Quincy Roche, Miami - Adding Roche as a rush end in Martindale's 3-4 defense would be an excellent move as Baltimore seems unlikely to retain both Yannick Ngakoue and Matt Judon.
(59) Cleveland Browns - S Richie Grant, UCF - For a school most associate with high-powered offense, the UCF secondary is loaded, and Grant would make a fine addition for the Browns.
TRADE! The Saints send 2.60 and a 2022 third to the Jets in exchange for QB Sam Darnold.
(60) New York Jets (via NO) - WR Elijah Moore, Ole Miss - He seems to be trending higher than this, but either way, the Jets substitute a backup QB for an explosive wide receiver for Zach Wilson.
(61) Buffalo Bills - OT Spencer Brown, Northern Iowa - The Bills run game needs a boost on the offensive line, and Brown's monstrous frame gives a lot of weight to that.
(62) Dallas Cowboys (via GB) - DT Jay Tufele, USC - After adding offensive line earlier in the second, the Cowboys go back to restocking their defense with talent.
(63) Kansas City Chiefs - WR D'Wayne Eskridge, Western Michigan - The Chiefs likely lose WR Sammy Watkins, but find an explosive piece here to replace him.
(64) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - EDGE Hamilcar Rashed Jr., Oregon State - Rashed has a lot of physical traits that bolster his potential. Letting Todd Bowles develop him would be ideal.

Third Round

(65) Jacksonville Jaguars - EDGE Patrick Jones II, Pittsburgh - Urban Meyer and Jags add a defensive end with a high motor to develop along with Josh Allen and K'Lavon Chaisson.
(66) New York Jets - CB Keith Taylor Jr., Washington - A long, versatile defensive back, Taylor reminds me a good deal of 49ers CB Richard Sherman in his playstyle.
(67) Houston Texans - S Talanoa Hufanga, USC - The Texans continue to overhaul their defense here, bringing in Hufanga to play a handful of roles in their backfield.
(68) Atlanta Falcons - RB Michael Carter, North Carolina - Excellent value for the Falcons here, whether or not they bring back RB Todd Gurley who played on a 1-year deal in 2020.
(69) Cincinnati Bengals - CB Paulson Adebo, Stanford - The Bengals give their defense some reinforcements with the selection of an experienced corner like Adebo.
(70) Philadelphia Eagles - LB Jabrill Cox, LSU - The Eagles add a great athlete to the second-level of their defense. Cox has shown a lot of potential as a modern backer.
(71) Denver Broncos - EDGE Janarius Robinson, Florida State - With Von Miller in a bit of hot water at the moment, Denver make want to add a pass rusher to develop just in case.
(72) Detroit Lions - S Andre Cisco, Syracuse - Detroit's safety play was poor last year. Adding a high potential player like Cisco could be a good move for the rebuilding Lions.
(73) Carolina Panthers - TE Hunter Long, Boston College - Welcome to the board, Carolina! After making a splash trade for QB Deshaun Watson, the Panthers give him another weapon at tight end. Long impressed during the Senior Bowl.
(74) Washington Football Team - LB Cameron McGrone, Michigan - McGrone has some inconsistency to his play, but offers a lot of upside for someone who can straighten him out.
(75) Dallas Cowboys - EDGE Victor Dimukeje, Duke - The Cowboys take a chance on Dimukeje here to help get after opposing QB's more frequently.
(76) New York Giants - WR Rondale Moore, Purdue - I'd anticipate Golden Tate being a cap cut, and if so, Moore would be an explosive slot weapon to replace him.
(77) New England Patriots - PICK FORFEITED
(78) Los Angeles Chargers - EDGE Dayo Odeyingbo, Vanderbilt - A craft, versatile edge rusher, he'd project as an OLB in Staley defense with the Chargers.
(79) Minnesota Vikings - DT Alim McNeill, North Carolina State - The Vikings add an explosive 3-technique to help get their defense turned around in a hurry.
(80) Arizona Cardinals - CB Shaun Wade, Ohio State - Wade was overhyped early on, but would fit well in the Cardinals defense, developing as a future replacement for Patrick Peterson.
(81) Las Vegas Raiders - S Richard Lecounte, Georgia - The Raiders add an experienced safety on the back end who can help them slow down divisional offenses led by Mahomes and Herbert.
(82) Denver Broncos - OT Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame - The Broncos stop a bit of a slide here for Eichenberg. He has the ability to play RT or on the inside for Denver.
(83) Washington Football Team - S Joshuah Bledsoe, Missouri - An underrated player at the position, Bledsoe has a ton of versatility and would fit very well reinforcing Washington's already stellar defense.
(84) Chicago Bears - QB Kyle Trask, Florida - The Bears don't ignore the QB position entirely, as they take a later-than-expected flier on Trask. He was very good for Florida.
(85) Indianapolis Colts - CB Elijah Molden, Washington - Not the biggest need on the Colts roster, but they should have the cap to plug holes in free agency and pick better players, like Molden, here.
(86) Tennessee Titans - WR Dyami Brown, North Carolina - The Titans do have a stud WR in A.J. Brown, but with Corey Davis likely landing big money elsewhere, adding another player here is important.
(87) New York Jets (via SEA) - EDGE Payton Turner, Houston - A versatile pass rusher who can fit either a 4-3 or 3-4. Whatever system Saleh installs, Turner should find a home quickly.
(88) Las Vegas Raiders (via PIT) - LB Dylan Moses, Alabama - Once considered a potential top-10 pick, Moses has fallen off a bit, but the Raiders take a chance on him nonetheless.
(89) Detroit Lions (via LAR) - WR Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State - Detroit should probably consider hitting the wide receiver position multiple times in the draft. The cabinet is empty there.
(90) Cleveland Browns - LB Ventrell Miller, Florida - The Browns linebackers are a major weak spot. If Cleveland wants to contend for the division, adding some speed there in Miller would help.
(91) Minnesota Vikings (via BAL) - S Paris Ford, Pittsburgh - With S Anthony Harris likely headed elsewhere in free agency, the Vikings take a chance on the hard-hitting ford as a replacement.
(92) Cleveland Browns - EDGE Rashad Weaver, Pittsburgh - Back-to-back selections of Pitt Panthers here, Rashad is an excellent pass rusher to add into the mix.
(93) Green Bay Packers - DT Tommy Togiai, Ohio State - The Packers add some beef to the inside of their defense, hoping to solidify a shaky group outside of DT Kenny Clark.
(94) Buffalo Bills - iOL Josh Myers, Ohio State - The Bills grab a starting caliber lineman here in Myers, who should help bolster the interior of their offensive line and give a boost to their run game.
(95) Kansas City Chiefs - OT Jackson Carmen, Clemson - The Chiefs need another offensive tackle to throw into the mix, as neither Eric Fisher nor Mitchell Schwartz figure to be around for too much longer.
(96) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT Marvin Wilson, Florida State - While Wilson didn't dominant as many expected him to in 2020, perhaps slotting him alongside Vita Vea will free up mismatches for him.
Compensatory Selections
(97) Los Angeles Chargers - G Quinn Meinerz, Wisconsin-Whitewater - Meinrez blew up the Senior Bowl, and could easily land as a top-100 prospect after that showing. LAC is a good fit here.
(98) Philadelphia Eagles - TE Brevin Jordan, Miami - With Zach Ertz and Philadelphia likely parting ways soon enough, Jordan gives the Eagles a gadget replacement in the passing game.
(99) Dallas Cowboys - CB Asante Samuel Jr., Florida State - Another corner for Dallas as they really could use two strong selections to help rebuild the position. Samuel excels in the slot.
(100) New Orleans Saints - WR Amari Rodgers, Clemson - The Saints add the best player on the board here for me, an exceptional wide out who will pair well with Michael Thomas.
(101) Tennessee Titans - DT Marlon Tuipulotu, USC - The Titans add another body to their defensive front, in hopes that Marlon and Simmons can become a dominant duo inside.
(102) Los Angeles Rams - WR Josh Imatorbhebhe, Illinois - One of the most underrated wide outs in the class, due to the lack of offensive savvy around him. Imatorbhebhe reminds me of Kenny Golladay, so pairing him with new Rams QB Matthew Stafford out to be fun.
(103) Minnesota Vikings - EDGE Jordan Smith, UAB - A long, toolsy pass rusher to develop into a sidekick for Danielle Hunter is the pick here for Mike Zimmer and co.
(104) San Francisco 49ers - OT Walker Little, Stanford - I'm certain the 49ers will bring back LT Trent Williams, but how much longer does he really have? Meanwhile, Little can play guard before taking over at left tackle soon enough.
(105) Los Angeles Rams - EDGE Shaka Toney, Penn State - Toney has good burst off the edge and with OLB Leonard Floyd headed towards the market, the Rams could stand to add some pass rushers.
(106) New Orleans Saints - RB Trey Sermon, Ohio State - With a cap crunch, paying $4 million for Latavius Murray may be a luxury the Saints cannot afford. Cutting him and drafting Sermon can offset that.

Fourth Round

Just a reminder, but almost half of all fourth-round selections (46%) are no longer on the roster after two years in their career, so don't take these picks too seriously, as this is also where teams start to diverge from needs a bit more and go best available. The aim is rotational players who might be contributors by their 3rd year with the franchise. If you have a significant need, fill it in free agency, not the day three of the draft. If you're banking on your team to find a starter here at a key position, you're already kind of screwed. Really I'm less focused on needs as opposed to getting good value here. Am trying to avoid doubling up on prospects, but sometimes teams actually do that.
(107) Jacksonville Jaguars - DT Tyler Shelvin, LSU (108) New York Jets - G David Moore, Grambling State (109) Atlanta Falcons - S Hamsah Nasirildeen, Florida State (110) Houston Texans - QB Jaime Newman, Georgia - The Texans don't draft a QB in the first, but do take a chance on Newman's upside to develop behind Bridgewater.
(111) Cleveland Browns - WR Seth Williams, Auburn (112) Cincinnati Bengals - S Jamien Sherwood, Auburn (113) Detroit Lions - EDGE Ronnie Perkins, Oklahoma (114) Carolina Panthers - LB Baron Browning, Ohio State (115) Denver Broncos - RB Jermar Jefferson, Oregon State - With Lindsay hitting the market, maybe the Broncos don't bring him back and Jefferson as a change of pace back behind Gordon instead.
(116) Dallas Cowboys - TE Tommy Tremble, Notre Dame (117) New York Giants - RB Rhamondre Stevenson, Oklahoma - An excellent backup for Saquon Barkley if the Giants don't re-sign Wayne Gallman. (118) San Francisco 49ers - S James Wiggins, Cincinnati (119) Los Angeles Chargers - RB Demetric Falcon, UCLA (120) Minnesota Vikings - WR Dazz Newsome, North Carolina
(121) New England Patriots - WR Whop Philyor, Indiana (122) Las Vegas Raiders - G Sadarius Hutcherson, South Carolina (123) Houston Texans - WR Marlon Williams, UCF (124) Miami Dolphins - DT Jaylen Twyman, Pittsburgh (125) Jacksonville Jaguars - CB Israel Mukuamu, South Carolina - The Jags had a good year out of Sidney Jones, but still could use an intriguing developmental option like Mukuamu behind him.
(126) Minnesota Vikings - LB Pete Werner, Ohio State (127) Tennessee Titans - G Ben Cleveland, Georgia (128) Indianapolis Colts - WR Jaelon Darden, North Texas (129) Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Kary Vincent Jr., LSU - The Steelers get some excellent value here, as I think Vincent is one of the top slot corners in the draft. Could easily replace Hilton. (130) Seattle Seahawks - CB Shakur Brown, Michigan State
(131) Jacksonville Jaguars - LB Monty Rice, Georgia (132) Baltimore Ravens - iOL Trey Hill, Georgia (133) Cleveland Browns - TE Cary Angeline, North Carolina State (134) New Orleans Saints - EDGE Tarron Jackson, Coastal Carolina - With Trey Hendrickson likely departing and Marcus Davenport still yet to hit double-digit sacks, the Saints may look to add another piece to develop here. (135) Minnesota Vikings - RB Khalil Herbert, Virginia Tech
(136) Green Bay Packers - OT James Hudson, Cincinnati (137) Kansas City Chiefs - LB Anthony Hines III, Texas A&M - A quick linebacker, he'd fit nicely into the Chiefs defense alongside Willie Gay and others. (138) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - QB Davis Mills, Stanford (139) New England Patriots - EDGE Adetokunbo Ogundeji, Notre Dame (140) Dallas Cowboys - S Ar'Darius Washington, TCU
(141) Los Angeles Rams - TE Tre McKitty, Georgia (142) Pittsburgh Steelers - DT Darius Stills, West Virginia (143) Green Bay Packers - RB Kylin Hill, Mississippi State - With Aaron Jones hitting the market, the Packers may look for another back to add to their rotation. Hill would be a great addition. (144) Kansas City Chiefs - CB Roger McCreary, Auburn (145) New England Patriots - OT Cordell Volson, North Dakota State

Fifth Round

(146) Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Brady Christensen, BYU (147) New York Jets - DL Brenton Cox, Florida (148) Houston Texans - EDGE Jonathan Cooper, Ohio State (149) Atlanta Falcons - EDGE Kingsley Enagbare, South Carolina - PFF actually lists Enagbare as a top-100 player on their latest big board, which, if accurate, would be tremendous value. (150) Cincinnati Bengals - WR Anthony Schwartz, Auburn
(151) Philadelphia Eagles - CB Robert Rochell, Central Arkansas - Big fan of Rochell's a potential starter down the road. Would fit well with Marcus Gannon calling the defense. (152) Carolina Panthers - G Kendrick Green, Illinois (153) Denver Broncos - QB Kellen Mond, Texas A&M (154) Detroit Lions - CB Kelvin Joseph, Kentucky (155) New York Jets - S Caden Sterns, Texas
(156) San Francisco 49ers - CB Camryn Bynum, California (157) Philadelphia Eagles - OT Adrian Ealy, Oklahoma (158) Minnesota Vikings - CB Rodarius Williams, Oklahoma State (159) New England Patriots - DT Milton Williams, Louisiana Tech (160) Los Angeles Chargers - WR Simi Fehoko, Stanford
(161) Arizona Cardinals - RB Chuba Hubbard, Oklahoma State - He'd be an excellent fit in the Cardinals backfield, especially if Kenyan Drake does not return. (162) Buffalo Bills - CB Tay Gowan, UCF (163) Las Vegas Raiders - QB Feleipe Franks, Arkansas (164) Washington Football Team - WR Jonathan Adams Jr., Arkansas State (165) Chicago Bears - CB D.J. Daniel, Georgia
(166) Indianapolis Colts - OT Brendan Jaimes, Nebraska (167) Tennessee Titans - OLB Charles Snowden, Virginia (168) Seattle Seahawks - OT Dan Moore Jr., Texas A&M (169) Baltimore Ravens - QB Sam Ehlinger, Texas - Unless the Ravens are certain that Trace McSorley is their backup QB, they may want to look at adding Ehlinger behind Lamar. (170) Cleveland Browns - LB Tony Fields II, West Virginia
(171) Jacksonville Jaguars - WR Tamorrion Terry, Florida State (172) Minnesota Vikings - QB Ian Book, Notre Dame (173) San Francisco 49ers - iOL Drake Jackson, Kentucky (174) Green Bay Packers - CB Ambry Thomas, Michigan (175) Buffalo Bills - S Reed Blankenship, Middle Tennessee State
(176) Kansas City Chiefs - EDGE Malcolm Koonce, Buffalo (177) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - LB Garrett Wallow, Texas Christian (178) Green Bay Packers - S Tyree Gillespie, Missouri (179) Atlanta Falcons - C James Empey, BYU - The Falcons find themselves a quality interior lineman who could use a year to develop before getting in the mix to replace Alex Mack down the road. (180) Dallas Cowboys - WR Josh Palmer, Tennessee
(181) Baltimore Ravens - S Qwynterrio Cole, Alcorn State (182) San Francisco 49ers - WR Marquez Stevenson, Houston (183) Kansas City Chiefs - RB Pooka Williams, Kansas

Sixth Round

(184) Tennessee Titans - QB Shane Buechele, Texas (185) New York Jets - LB Paddy Fisher, Northwestern (186) Atlanta Falcons - G Aaron Banks, Notre Dame - Love the value here for the Falcons, and if they do have to cut James Carpenter, Banks could be a useful piece. (187) Houston Texans - iOL Jack Anderson, Texas Tech (188) Philadelphia Eagles - S JaCoby Stevens, LSU (189) Cincinnati Bengals - DT Khryis Tonga, BYU (190) Denver Broncos - DT Bobby Brown III, Texas A&M
(191) Dallas Cowboys - G Josh Sills, Oklahoma State (192) Carolina Panthers - DT Carlo Kemp, Michigan (193) San Francisco 49ers - EDGE Daelin Hayes - The 49ers showed a good deal of interest in Hayes at the Senior Bowl per reports. He'd be a nice depth option on the edge. (194) New England Patriots - CB Benjamin St.-Juste, Minnesota (195) New York Giants - CB Thomas Graham Jr., Oregon
(196) New England Patriots - G Tristen Hoge, BYU (197) Los Angeles Chargers - S Eric Burrell, Wisconsin (198) Minnesota Vikings - OT Alex Himmelman, Illinois State (199) Las Vegas Raiders - PICK FORFEITED (200) New York Giants - LB K.J. Britt, Auburn
(201) Houston Texans - DL Cameron Sample, Tulane (202) Las Vegas Raiders - WR Austin Watkins, UAB (203) Chicago Bears - OT Bryce Matthews, Ole Miss (204) Los Angeles Chargers - WR Isaiah McKoy, Kent State (205) Indianapolis Colts - WR Damon Hazelton, Missouri - This stretch of wide receivers looks like solid value, especially Hazelton in Reich's offense.
(206) Miami Dolphins - TE Kenny Yeboah, Ole Miss - Yeboah got to work with Miami's coaching staff at the Senior Bowl, so I'd imagine they have a good feel for his use. (207) Seattle Seahawks - DT Mustafa Johnson, Colorado (208) Los Angeles Rams - OT Robert Hainsey, Notre Dame (209) Baltimore Ravens - G Robert Jones, Middle Tennessee State (210) Cleveland Browns - CB Trill Williams, Syracuse
(211) Houston Texans - RB Jaret Patterson, Buffalo (212) Buffalo Bills - RB Elijah Mitchell, Louisiana (213) Green Bay Packers - WR Cade Johnson, South Dakota State (214) Pittsburgh Steelers - C Jimmy Morrissey, Pittsburgh (215) Tennessee Titans - S Aashari Crosswell, Arizona State
(216) Atlanta Falcons - LB Derrick Barnes, Purdue (217) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TE Quintin Morris, Bowling Green (218) Atlanta Falcons - OT Greg Eiland, Mississippi State (219) Philadelphia Eagles - RB Javian Hawkins, Louisville (220) Chicago Bears - EDGE Chris Rumph Jr., Duke
(221) Green Bay Packers - DE William King-Bradley, Baylor (222) Chicago Bears - S Shawn Davis, Florida (223) Minnesota Vikings - G Ben Brown, Ole Miss (224) Philadelphia Eagles - LB Grant Stuard, Houston

(231) Cincinnati Bengals - DT TaQuon Graham, Texas (232) Buffalo Bills - S Divine Deablo, Virginia Tech (233) Denver Broncos - S Damar Hamlin, Pittsburgh (234) Green Bay Packers - LB Riley Cole, South Alabama (235) Denver Broncos - WR Cornell Powell, Clemson
(236) San Francisco 49ers - WR Frank Darby, Arizona State (237) Los Angeles Chargers - DB Darrin Hall, San Diego State (238) Minnesota Vikings - WR Trevon Grimes, Florida (239) New England Patriots - DE Wyatt Hubert, Kansas State (240) Arizona Cardinals - OT Jaylon Moore, Western Michigan
(241) Washington Football Team - G Jake Curhan, California (242) Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Bryan Mills, North Carolina Central (243) Washington Football Team - RB Chris Evans, Michigan (244) Las Vegas Raiders - CB Mark Webb, Georgia (245) Indianapolis Colts - RB Larry Roundtree, Missouri
(246) Jacksonville Jaguars - DT Forrest Merrill, Arkansas State (247) New York Jets - WR Tre Walker, (248) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - EDGE Joshua Kaindoh, Florida State (249) Los Angeles Rams - CB Bryce Thompson, Tennessee (250) Cleveland Browns - QB Brady White, Memphis
(251) Denver Broncos - EDGE Patrick Johnson, Tulane (252) New Orleans Saints - PICK FORFEITED (253) Green Bay Packers - DT Jack Heflin, Northern Illinois (254) Cleveland Browns - CB Nahshon Wright, Oregon State (255) Kansas City Chiefs - DT Kobie Whiteside, Missouri (256) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - WR Desmond Fitzpatrick, Louisville
You'll notice there are no special teams listed...mostly because I don't have a clue who needs a K/P/LS. That actually might be something useful to mention if you're team really needs someone.
Feel free to comment...I won't really be looking at them until next week, as I've spent too much time putting this together and now I need a break from this website. Just don't be a d*** is all I ask. It's shockingly hard for some people when it comes to internet mock drafts. Did this for fun, hope you had fun reading it.

💎RC December Update Survey: the results.💎

💎RC December Update Survey: the results.💎
Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to our Reddit Community Survey (and for your patience while we struggled to locate our funny bone amidst IRL mayhem). Without further ado, let's find out what this community liked/disliked about the RC December update, just in time before the February update drops.
----
💎First of all, which story was the most read in December? Looks like Lucifer's campaigning bore some fruit, since the HS readers were out in forces this Yuletide, while readership percentages took a sharp plunge across the rest of the board. #aint-no-christmas-like-an-HS-christmas
-- 95.6% of the respondents read Heaven's Secret (up from last update's 94.2%)
-- 75% read Dracula: a Love Story (down from the previous update's 91.4%)
-- 73.1% read Chasing You (down from the previous update's 87.3%)
-- 69.4% read Path of the Valkyrie (down from the previous update's 89.3%)
-- 66.2% read Legend of the Willow (down from the previous update's 81.2%)
-- 65.2% read Love from Outer Space (down from the previous update's 81.8% )
----
💎How popular was each update? We asked you to rate the new chapters giving a score between 1 and 5, where 1= I did not like it, 5= I loved it. HS and LOW are incredibly steady with their results, and as usual DLS and LOW keep swapping places on the podium. CY falls in last place, but this might be due to the fact that it was the only story with a single chapter being released in December. Also, the fact that a beloved potential LI turned psycho might have had a hand in it. #gingers-deserved-better
----
-- Heaven's Secret: 4.4 (same score as the previous three updates, remains in first place)
-- Legend of the Willow: 4.2 (same score as the previous three updates, up from third to second)
-- Dracula: a love story: 4.1 (slightly down from the previous update's 4.3, goes from second to third)
-- Path of the Valkyrie: 4.0 (on par with the previous update's 4.1, stable in fourth)
-- Love from Outer Space: 3.5 (same score as the previous update, up from sixth to fifth)
-- Chasing You: 3.0 (down from the previous update's 3.7, goes from fifth to sixth)
--------
.💎But here's the juicy stuff: which characters had the best and worst scenes in this update?
----

.⚠️Warning: plot spoilers for the December update are contained in this post from this point on. ⚠️

----
.💎The top 10 overall BEST scenes go to:
----
(1) Malbonte (HS) - 58.7% - The shocking revelation that Malbonte is something like our great-great-granduncle once removed from our mother's side seems not to have discouraged anyone, as he keeps his place on top of the RC pyramid without breaking a sweat. Rooftop kissing and a spot of casual homicide only added spice to his plot line, so apparently we are all still here for it. #bad-boys-finish-first #all-in-the-family
----
(2) Vlad (DLS) - 45.7% - It took MC only 11 chapters to realise that her brooding bae is indeed not the touchy type, but fear not: vivid imagination and a roaring fire more than made up for it. Plus, thanks to Vlad's new casual outfit, we got a glimpse of collarbone which had us all gasping for air like Victorian peasants. #oh-my #feeling-parched
----
(3) Kazu (LOW) - 38.6% - His tea-brewing abilities might be lacking, but Kazu surely knows how to deliver a cold serving of revenge. Watching this sexy ninja go all John Wick on his enemies had us all equally shocked and intrigued. And what can we say about that super expensive scene where he showed off his most hidden skills? Totally worth it. #luxury-shinobi-meat #no-one-before-me
----
(4) Lucifer (HS) - 36.3% - Old favourite Lucifer crawls his way up the charts gaining one spot compared to the previous update, but alas it's not enough for him to get back on top of the food chain. Is his heart defrosting too slowly? His apparent desire to join the Malbonte team had many of us puzzled, but it's still too early to know what his real intentions are. #uno-reverse-card
----
(5) Loki (POV) - 28.4% - Not all gingers had it bad in the December update. Loki might have got a right bollocking because of his tree vandalism antics, but in the meantime he also got to flirt up a storm with MC, ending up with a fiery snog that had us all craving for more. #prank-me-baby-one-more-time
----
(6) Shino-Odori (LOW) - 24.1% - Finally LOW revealed its female LI and we could not be happier! Female characters have never been featured in our best-of list before (unless you count female cats), so we are really chuffed that this sassy, gorgeous, intriguing character is the one shattering this very specific glass ceiling! #you-go-girl #lets-be-more-than-frie-e-e-nds
----
(7) Adi (HS) - 22.4% - It doesn't matter if you managed to keep him alive until now or you had been mourning all along: Adi was not meant to make it to the end either way, but at least he got a chance at revenge before bowing out. As heartbreaking as that scene was, at least now him and Sammy will be together again. #i-am-not-crying-you-are-crying #it-should-have-been-rebecca
----
(8) Ullr (POV) - 19.2% - This hoodied warrior cutie seemed somehow distracted by blonde it girl Vanadis in this update, however he did not miss the chance to check out MC while she was busy with her evening ablutions. He might need to decide faster next time, though, as our badass heroine won't wait for anyone. #you-snooze-you-lose
----
(9) Rebecca (HS) - 18.6% - This Machiavellic mama's no-nonsense, corporate-ladder-climbing, possibly-poisonous approach to afterlife's politics is getting more and more popular by the day, so here she is strutting her way into the second ever spot for female characters in the best-of. And how can we fault her for going after what she wants? #i-am-not-thirsty-tho-thanks
----
(10) Dino (HS) - 16.8% - Sweet Dino has not been in the best-of since the August update, so we are glad to see him make an appearance just as HS is nearing the end of its run. Not even his somehow-too-zen approach to his dad's untimely demise managed to overshadow his romantic exploits, with many of us swooning right into his arms. #angel-in-the-street-devil-in-the-sheets
----
https://preview.redd.it/j54y0nuv15f61.png?width=796&format=png&auto=webp&s=211861076814eeb63afdd09997a94843b7f6b71a
----
💎And the top 10 overall WORST scenes go to:
----
(1) Edward (CY) - 49.9% - Half of the ginger characters in this update had it rough, but Ed here takes the cake for the quickest shift from hot to maybe-not. We are not sure if it’s more shocking that apparently he is single-handedly responsible for everything that has ruined MC's life in the past two seasons, or that he can clearly still get it even with that dishevelled look going on. #dont-at-me #the-heart-wants-what-it-wants #still-better-than-vlads-haircut
----
(2) Christopher (CY) - 31% - Despite appearing in the story for about three seconds tops, whoever points a gun at lovely Rachel's head deserves a spot in the naughty corner. Or maybe we are all still salty that we don't know who was the one making a move near the bonfire? Either way, both twins need some serious talking to. #why-are-you-like-this
----
(3) Eve (CY) ties with Fencio (HS) at 26% - This Russian bombshell can't seem to catch a break. From the famous nipple-twisting incident to the hints at a possible relationship with Alex, clearly we all think that her crimes are equally reprehensible as the ones of an old immortal guy who murdered three people, released an ancient evil and caused a global war with countless victims. #give-me-alex-or-give-me-death
----
(4) Adi (HS) - 22.2% - Beloved Adi proved to be a touch controversial in this update. Maybe those voting him in the worst-of are all the hardcore Fencio fans secretly lurking in the shadows, or maybe we were just too freaked out by his ghost appearance spewing truth fire in the nightmare swamps. Either way, he goes out with a bang and won't be forgotten. #adieu-adi
----
(5) Ellia (CY) - 18.3% - Apart from profusely sweating and trying his best to clear his name, Ellia was mostly a bystander in this update, but since CY took a plunge in ratings overall, he seems to have been swept up in the dislike tsunami. We are all still waiting for the romance with him to actually materialise, though, so maybe this slow burn is going just a little too slow? #Ellia-when
----
(6) Rebecca (HS) - 17.9% - Manipulative, ruthless, homicidal: all the great qualities that got Rebecca to make the best-of also win her a spot in the worst-of. And we bet she'd be pretty pleased with that. #there-is-no-such-thing-as-bad-publicity
----
(7) Malbonte (HS) - 16.8% - This subreddit‘s controversial darling deserves some time out, even only for killing poor Adi, because let's be honest, that was kinda unnecessary. This cold-blooded immortal's offer to fill MC up like a gas station pump was not enough to spare him a wave of dislikes. Or maybe it's just Lucifer voting with his many reddit accounts. #not-my-cup-of-mal-bon-tea
----
(8) Azumi (LOW) - 16.4% - The Kazu ship has sailed and this cranky cutie is not happy one bit not to be the only woman in the Shinobi village any longer. Clearly her bold attempts at conquering the mysterious ninja's heart had us all seriously ticked. #stay-away-from-kazus-shurikens
----
(9) Yavuz Pasha (DLS) - 15.4% - Domestic abuse is no laughing matter so we are not surprised to see this horrible, horrible man making the worst scenes list. Ignorant, bigoted and downright criminal, we are hoping he'll get his comeuppance soon.
----
(10) Vlad (DLS) - 13.9% - As polarising as ever, the king of foreplay joins Malbonte in the 'LIs that our community is not too sure about.' Or maybe those voting him in the worst-of are all those impatient fans that are simply frustrated by the endless slow burn? #show-me-the-money-already
----
https://preview.redd.it/kk1qgqoy15f61.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=504dcaf4a2077938ab84c4cbb418c9115ef3971d
----
💎And here are all the results, book by book:
----

.Chasing You

.Not much love for CY in this update! The lack of any Sam, Alexander or meaningful Rachel screentime clearly has had an immediate effect on this book's rating. #bring-back-our-lovelies
https://preview.redd.it/gbtlb29325f61.png?width=1423&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad53f0e5d52b8fae9f481301f001f68879f55a7e
----

Heaven's Secret

That hot archdemon who was given a name just because he's attractive fares better than some of the longstanding LIs, some badass scenes get Andy just a tiny bit more love than normal and Geralt remains a fans' favourite overall. #business-as-usual
https://preview.redd.it/pb22q8t525f61.png?width=1423&format=png&auto=webp&s=613929aef225d5a11b7272d0e7d787e447c00e76
----

Legend of the Willow

Despite Chongan doing his very best to interfere with his courting attempts, Takao is still getting love from this community, while Masamune's diminished screentime affects his ratings significantly. #Chongan-for-president
https://preview.redd.it/3hjx9es825f61.png?width=1423&format=png&auto=webp&s=e48789236e738f11a572e7bcaf954ec155773e3e
----

Dracula: a Love Story

Poor Leo/Aslan has been left biting Vlad's dust in this update, but Ilinca is a surprise third place in the best-of: her ouija skills had us all impressed, 10/10 would recommend to summon dead relatives again.
https://preview.redd.it/g4m7bkkb25f61.png?width=1446&format=png&auto=webp&s=77e4567ad33cae762310eb4beb8e779544ff4b9d
----

Love from Outer Space

Baddies rule in LOS, with both Sarah and Doc scoring higher than some of the LIs, but mamma mia Jacob! All it took for this adorable grump to get first place in the most liked LI charts (and not only in the most disliked as per usual) was to show off his perfect abs. #controversial-cutie

https://preview.redd.it/kdfvcdeu56f61.png?width=1446&format=png&auto=webp&s=9490a9bae01c040c85664b916fa5769f4701dabb
----

Path of the Valkyrie

The newest RC story is still proving popular and so are its characters, with new entry Thor already making waves in his own right. Liod tops the worst scenes for no apparent reason, though? #what-did-we-miss
https://preview.redd.it/s8yz5moe25f61.png?width=1446&format=png&auto=webp&s=159bfeaf2be21653c9da984b8ea839481f9bf3b7
----
... And also ...
----
💎Do you think the tea in CY is really poisoned? Poisoned drinks were a surprisingly common plot twist in more than one story in the December update, but it seems like the majority of the community thinks that CY MC is full of it. #but-then-why-is-ellia-sweating-so-much
https://preview.redd.it/4o3yfrxi25f61.png?width=1392&format=png&auto=webp&s=88d2ef722b7faeeb5ae43b1ff2c88bbd6c81716f
----
💎Did Eve and Ellia support you in CY? We are such an uncool bunch on this subreddit, so the majority of us either had no support at all or only had sweet Ellia to back them up. #its-a-lonely-road
https://preview.redd.it/xzp31etk25f61.png?width=1380&format=png&auto=webp&s=f8e33b345052b1980e21a6ecab3b8e0df35f2fc8
----
💎From zero to cardboard cutout on public transport, how hot did you find the Lucifer vs Malbonte face off near the fire in HS? The majority has spoken: Malbonte wins this hotness face-off, although the party of those who are attracted to him as well as Lucifer is very close behind. #why-not-both
https://preview.redd.it/q383xjem25f61.png?width=1355&format=png&auto=webp&s=818af71615e798f224687f65218dfcee927942bf
----
💎How did that one HS villain meet his end in your playthrough? It was Fencio‘s time to go, and 80.1% of the community had him perish by Adi's rightful and revengeful hand. The 19.9% of us, however, saw him refuse Malbonte's orders in the nightmare swamps and choosing to stab himself instead than lifting a finger on his beloved Rebecca. #boy-was-so-whipped
----
.💎Did you warn Yore about his drink in HS? A good share of this subreddit decided to tell Yore not to drink, but the majority didn't, either because they did not realise what was about to happen or because simply could not care less. #Yore-who
https://preview.redd.it/utldgw8o25f61.png?width=1412&format=png&auto=webp&s=f765efb9ed939ce8db384d8bc8e42b4878c4128d
----
💎How successful was your black duck mission in LOW? Looks like 63.9% was very successful: they went, they stole and they came back without leaving a trace. 26.7% were somewhat successful, making a bit of a mess but leaving fairly unscathed, while 9.5% were complete screw ups, woke up the dead but somehow still managed. #buh-bye-azumi #veni-vidi-vici
----
.💎Did you flirt with Shino-Odori in LOW? Shino-Odori is a clear favourite on this subreddit, however she might have entered the fray a little too late, because most of us seem to have our heart already taken. Still, those who want to date her make up for a considerable percentage of the community.
https://preview.redd.it/7jlm3qvp25f61.png?width=1277&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc3e9005fb4adb164e9ca079dc7071d87a977b78
----
💎Did you pay 103 diamonds to ask Kazu to show you his shurikens in LOW? What kind of question was this? Of course most of us paid (or wanted to pay) for a night of weapon training with Kazu. A very small percentage regretted it, but a surprisingly large minority was also clearly not interested. #fair-enough
https://preview.redd.it/l92zpklr25f61.png?width=1407&format=png&auto=webp&s=a4e9b8f836c0d106267d980b7dd64a80e0d13832
----
💎Did you share an intense fantasy moment in front of the fire with Vlad in DLS? The 66.6% of this community absolutely did and is still in tears about it and thinking of possible solutions (plastic cover? cling film? gloves?) while 15.3% did not because they are playing DLS without any romantic attachment (kudos to the immense self control needed for that!); 9.7% have their heart set on Leo, 4.7% wanted to but were too broke to buy the diamond scene, and 3.7% are loyal to Sandra.
----
.💎What do you think of young Vlad's latest haircut in DLS? Looks like we all agree that Vlad's hairdressing skills are not gonna get him a L'Oréal contract any time soon. #just-no
https://preview.redd.it/elykvffu25f61.png?width=1407&format=png&auto=webp&s=f520d4d70aab9013a0986c8c2c15e0d36d53b4d6
----
💎Which activity did you and Ray attend in LOS? We are a community of nerds, since the 41% of us ended up in chess club, while 34.4% tried their luck at becoming the next Golden Adam winner in drama club, and only 24.6% went for cheerleading tryouts. #nerd-club-and-proud-of-it
----
.💎Did you get to suck faces with the God of Mischief in POV? Getting thirsty in the middle of the night has never been more of a double entendre than in this update, yet a surprising 43.3% of us declared that they are not interested in sucking anything that belongs to Loki. 38.3% jumped at the chance to tongue-tie the Mischief Master, while 18.5% would have liked to, but chose the wrong option so were left high and dry. #unloki
----
.💎What do you think of Vanadis in POV? It is safe to say that in this community those who have been charmed by Vanadis - both in her tree and human form - are in the minority.
https://preview.redd.it/tiemar8935f61.png?width=1407&format=png&auto=webp&s=fcf24da263f7c4ced8b2608b49f3ea33a83ed35a
----
💎Whose creepy face are you most likely to see in your future nightmares? We had no shortage of night terrors fuel in the December update, but Adi takes the crown for the scariest of them all. Also, yes, we put Satoshi in just as a joke. (Or did we?) #leave-satoshi-alone
https://preview.redd.it/1st9wyia35f61.png?width=1407&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab24c033ecbcbb815e3eea92f9b7b9e2f5327a53
----
💎Who was your favourite MC in this update? HS MC and her adventures in war-torn heaven and hell take first place with 33.3% of the votes, while the previous update's winner - ninja-in-training Mei (LOW) - falls into second place with 30.7%. Almost-valkyrie POV MC completes the podium, stable in third place with 15.5% of the votes. No changes in the rest of the rankings, with time-travelling DLS MC in fourth (12.8%), wannabe assassin CY MC in fifth (5.7%), and starstruck sweetie Amber (LOS) in sixth with 1.7%.
----
💎We also asked about diamonds: how much did you spend on this update?
-- 32.9% spent more than 300, less than 500 diamonds (up from the previous update's 28.2%)
-- 27.1% spent more than 500 diamonds (down from the previous update's 35.7%)
-- 23.7% spent more than 150, less than 300 diamonds (exactly the same % as the previous update)
-- 12.4% spent more than 50, less than 150 diamonds (up from the previous update's 10% )
-- 3.9% spent less than 50 diamonds. (up from the previous update's 2.4%)
----
💎Next up: did we buy teacups? The majority of us (77.3%) decided to be patient and read the chapters over a few days, while 22.7% could not wait, slightly less than the previous update, when 24.8% of us had decided to pay to binge read.
----
💎We asked if you used the wiki walkthroughs to help you with your stats, and 62.6% said yes (almost the same as the 61.1% of the previous update), while 34.5% chose to be adventurous and try their luck on their own (on par with the 35.5% of the previous update). And for the 2.9% who did not know walkthroughs even existed, fear not: here is a link to our very own Reddit-made Wiki to help you all with your plot and romance goals!

----
💎And last but not least, thank you to the 85.5% of you who were looking forward to reading this post, we love you! And to the 14.5% who wished us to find socks in every Christmas present we received, joke's on you: we LOVE socks, especially if they help those who need to stay warm the most.

Under The Lights: Seaking (Love Cup, Kanto Cup, Open GL PvP)

The legendary King of the Sea....
The "Under The Lights" series provides some deeper dives on Pokémon of particular interest, ones with breakout potential in ongoing or upcoming Cup formats... and into the future. And today, before I go full bore into prepping for Kanto Cup (again), I want to take a look at a true oddball Pokémon that will be relevant then AND is relevant in the here and now. So here he is, the king of the seas himself. Join me as we put Seaking... under the lights.

SEAKING

Water Type
Attack: 124 (120 High Stat Product)
Defense: 105 (111 High Stat Product)
HP: 139 (140 High Stat Product)
(Highest Stat Product IVs: 0-14-14, 1499 CP, Level 26.5)
So there are many interesting things about Seaking, but the typing and stats aren't among them. It's a pure Water type with no secondary typing, meaning it is vulnerable--famously so--to Grass and Electric, and resists Fire, Ice, Steel, and other Waters. It's a pretty nice defensive typing overall, really.
And thankfully Seaking has decent bulk to go along with it. I wouldn't call it "bulky", with Defense being a bit lower than you'd like, but with above average HP, it can take a few hits and hang in there to deliver its own blows back.
And that's where things get interesting. Because Seaking strikes back with moves that make it totally unlike any other Water type--or really any ANY type--in the game. Check out what I mean:
ᴸ - Legacy Move
Fast Moves:
Poison Jabᴸ (Poison, 3.0 DPT, 3.5 EPT, 1.0 CoolDown)
Waterfall (Water, 4.0 DPT, 2.67 EPT, 1.5 CD)
Peck (Flying, 3.0 DPT, 2.5 EPT, 1.5 CD)
So first off, that's a firm no on Peck. 3.0 is considered average for both Damage Per Turn (DPT) and Energy Per Turn (EPT), keeping in mind that 0.5 seconds equates to one "turn" in PvP. Some perfectly average moves (3.0 DPT & EPT) include Water Gun, Bug Bite, Air Slash, and Lick... none are exciting, but they all get the job done. Peck is a below average move, which is why nothing of consequence runs it in PvP.
Waterfall is obviously a nice, punishing move... just ask anyone that's faced a Waterfall Gyarados or Empoleon in PvP. Yes, it is also below average in terms of energy generation, but with a high DPT that not only balances things out, but overcompensates for the slight dip in EPT and results in Waterfall being an above average move. It's also the only STAB fast move Seaking has got, so throw a little extra damage on top of what's listed. Waterfall Seaking is often viable, and we'll be revisiting it shortly.
But for now, the move I want to highlight is the Legacy one: Poison Jab. In the Love Cup raging on as I type this, it is Poison Jab that has propelled Seaking into the spotlight of that meta, as it vaults it into being a great Charm slayer that also hits back at the Grasses (Grass types hate Poison damage) and often leads to wins over opposing Water types (like Slowbro and the mighty Alomomola) due to resisting their WateIce moves and hitting back with steady unresisted damage from Jab.
Of course, the uniqueness of Seaking doesn't end there. Oh no... it's just beginning.
Charge Moves:
Drill Runᴸ (Ground, 80 damage, 45 energy)
Icy Windᴸ (Ice, 60 damage, 45 energy, Decreases Opponent Attack -1 Stage)
Ice Beam (Ice, 90 damage, 55 energy)
Megahorn (Bug, 100 damage, 55 energy)
Water Pulse (Water, 70 damage, 60 energy)
So exactly one STAB move, and it is by far the worst charge move Seaking has available and you likely NEVER want to use it, ironically.
Love Cup has begun to open the eyes of any uninformed players left to the wonder that is Legacy Seaking. The fabled triple Legacy version, with Poison Jab powering up Icy Wind and Drill Run, gives Seaking incredible coverage, hitting back at both of its biggest enemies with super effective answers: Poison Jab and Icy Wind for Grasses, and Drill Run for the Electrics. There are Waters with coverage against Grasses, and Waters with coverage against Electrics, but beyond the infamous Mud Boys, I cannot think of another competitive Water that can so effectively turn the tables on BOTH with a well timed charge move. And after showing some promising signs in open GBL and some oast Silph Arena formats, it is in Love Cup that Seaking has finally fully broken out, bringing its effectiveness against Fairies, Fires, and opposing Waters to the fore, and also showing off that coverage by beating one of the top Grasses in the format (Cherrim) one on one. It forces shields or just runs over the entire meta, able to beat even Shadow Vileplume and its devastating Razor Leafs with an Icy Wind if it doesn't shield. Even the most notable Electric in the format (Electrode) MUST shield or it dies too. With a little bit of an energy lead (just two Poison Jabs' worth), it can beat Electrode even if it burns a shield in the process!
But I know what you're thinking. Yes, Seaking looks awesome, but there are two things that make people very reluctant to build one. First, it requires potentially THREE Elite TMs to build, as Jab, Wind, AND Drill Run are all Legacy, and that's a big ooof for many. But the second issue is: sure, Seaking looks great in Love Cup, but what about once Love Cup is over? Coupled with the potentially huge hit to Elite TM resources, it's not worth it for a (now half-over!) one week format, is it?
Let's address the first issue... uh, well, first. Can Seaking work without ALL those Legacy moves? In short: yes, yes it can.
Sticking with Love Cup for now, let's say you get yourself Poison Jab but only want (or only can) nab one Legacy charge move. Nice as it is, the easier drop is Drill Run, as Icy Wind is critical to threaten the Grasses and weaken many things with its guaranteed Attack debuff and basically grant Seaking more bulk, allowing it to more easily beat the Charmers and things like Slowbro that deal big fast move damage. So let's run PJ/IW/Megahorn Seaking out there. Horn deals big neutral damage to nearly everything, and is an even better closer against Grasses (super effective) and also hits Psychics (Slowbro) and Darks hard. Unfortunately, one 'mon where Drill Run is huge is against double-weak-to-Ground Magcargo, so Seaking has no clear path to victory against it anymore. But aside from fringe option Sunny Castform, Seaking with Megahorn still beats everything else in the meta that it did with Drill Run, and what was a loss before to Scrafty goes up to an important tie. So yes, I think there's enough here to say that Seaking with "only" two Legacy moves is still very much relevant in Love Cup. However, at least in the Love meta, replacing the fast move is a no go. Seaking actually looks okay with Waterfall overall, but the key difference is that it no longer beats the Charmers. And that's a very bad thing in Love Cup that I think disqualifies Waterfall almost completely. At that point, you're probably better off with Alomomola or Milotic or the like.
Now the second hesitation people have with Seaking is wondering if they'll ever be able to use it beyond Love Cup. And to that I ALSO say: yes! And soon, too!
Consider Kanto Cup, which is coming back in less than two weeks (and seems likely to come back again sometime after that at this rate). While it's not quite as impressive a performance as Love Cup, Seaking is still very viable, and picks up some wins over BIG names. In addition to the same Charmers it puts the clamps on in Love Cup (Wigglytuff and Clefable), it beats all the big Fires (A-Wak, Zard, and likely breakout star Ninetales), as well as Alolan Ninetales (in either its Charmer or Powder Snow configuration), plus the big Waters (again, shades of Love Cup) like Dewgong and Lapras and Poliwrath, and also Ices like Articuno and Alolan Sandslash, and Alolan Muk and Dragonair as bonuses.
And in THIS case, Waterfall Seaking looks pretty good too! As before, it loses the Charmers, plus Dragonair and the Icy Waters (Dewgong, Lapras), but it gains wins against the Alolan Rocks (BIG players in Kanto Cup), Beedrill, Haunter, Snorlax, and Alolan Raticate. Megahorn also looks good here thanks to how it beats Hypno when paired with Poison Jab, or you can run just SINGLE Legacy Seaking with Waterfall and have a good overall performance too, though Hypno slips away (replaced with A-Wak instead) and the other Waterfall vs Jab differences listed above are in play too.
And then there's the wild west of open Great League. Your best bet here is definitely the triple Legacy version, but keep in mind that as I tried to show above, you can build your way up to that by running "just" two (or possibly even just one!) Legacy moves in the Love/Kanto metas until you're able to free up that third Elite TM. And what you get is this. Now I know, it's not a terribly long list of wins, but check out the names on it! Azumarill. Altaria. Bastiodon. Registeel. Alolan Marowak. Mandibuzz. Mantine. Zweilous. Tropius. Shiftry. Jellicent. And of course the Charmers and Icy Waters we've already covered. That is a massive chunk of the very core of the core meta. And I can also tell you: Seaking plays even better than sims show. I have personally used it as my "pivot", my safe swap, in GBL Great League for 3+ seasons now since I invested some of my Elite TMs in building my own triple Legacy one. I run it alongside a couple spammy, versatile bodyguards, and it makes a fantastic swap in that puts up a fight against darn near everything and gives me options to soften up the opponent for my other 'mons to handle (especially with Icy Wind) or just go for the throat itself, often forcing a shield along the way. It LOVES farming down an Azu, which is itself obviously a very common safe swap. It's amusing to see how helpless Azu is for once, flailing feebly while getting ground down by super effective Poison Jabs. Take it from me: as nice as its win list is, Seaking has more value than the sims show. It's a great "support" Pokémon that can get you advantages back when in a hole, and rarely gets blown out by anything short of a Razor Leafer... and if one is swapped in against Seaking, you'll usually still force a shield there as even big bad Shadow Victreebel cannot kill it before Seaking reaches a charge move as long as it has just a single Poison Jab of energy.
So let's see if we can sum all that up with a quick TL;DR:
So end of the day, yes, Seaking is worth all the buzz it's getting in Love Cup, and if you're struggling in the format, give consideration to taking the plunge and building one... this is your best opportunity to reap immediate benefits yet! But don't worry too much about it collecting dust afterwards. Kanto will give you a chance to use it again, and even your open GBL team (and likely more Cup format teams down the line) can stand to benefit too. And lest I forget to mention it: Seaking is well and truly fun to use. There is truly nothing else in the game like it, and once you get a feel for using it, you will fall in love... just as I did several GBL seasons ago.
Okay, that's all I have in me today. I wanted to get this out while there was still plenty of Love Cup battles yet to be had, and with Kanto now coming up on the horizon. There has never been a better time to build your own crazy, unique king of the seas. Dive on in... the water's fine! 🌊
I AM actively working on a rewrite of my original meta/budget review article for Kanto Cup, as there have been enough changes (including the rise of both Ninetales, XL Lickitung, Payback Machamp, and more!) since Kanto Cup 1.0 that I think the second helping will feel quite different from the first. Until that's ready for prime time, you can find me on Twitter for near-daily PvP analysis nuggets or Patreon if you're into that sort of thing.
Continued thanks to my PvP friends, local and around the world, who have lent their own ideas and suggestions over the last 2+ years of PvP play, and helped teach me to be a better player and student of the game. And as always, the simulated battles above from my go-to simming resource at PvPoke.com are a good start to the story, but they are certainly not the whole story. Run some sims yourself, get yourself a good Seaking and play around with it, and please: discuss! I always love to hear your feedback and any discussions that come out of these deeper dives!
Thanks for reading... I appreciate your attention and encouragement. Stay safe out there, Pokéfriends, and see you again soon!

Options Explained - A Quick Beginners Guide

Options Explained - A Quick Beginners Guide
Fellow Bettors, if you understand options, move on.
First, proud of this community and all the giving it did yesterday. Truly phenomenal.
I've noticed a lot of people on this sub legitimately don't know what options are or what they do. This is incredibly concerning, how are we going to get to the moon if we don't know how to build a rocket. As such, I've decided to write a quick reference options guide to help some of the newer, younger, or less experienced traders as a Christmas present to the sub. If you know what options are, move on. I'm going to try and make this as short and sweet as possible. A reference guide.
As much as we all like loss porn, I like seeing gain porn way more and hate the thought of people losing life savings/tuition money/inheritance because they come to the sub and don't know anything about options but see a ticker with rocket ships and buy a 0 DTE 30% out of the money call with everything they have. Gotta know how to play blackjack to sit at the table.
Depending on feedback, I may write a few more. If I get told to fuck off I completely understand, but if some people learn some stuff then I'll continue. I will be using $MSFT as my example.

Options Explained
The Basics
Buying an option gives you the right to buy (call) or sell (put) 100 shares of a stock at a specific price (strike price) on or before the expiration date (European options are specifically on the expiration date). Buying calls is bullish, buying puts is bearish. To buy an option you are going to pay a premium as the other party will be accepting risk with the trade (premium explained more later).
  • If you believe a stock is going to go up past a certain price on or before a certain day, you buy calls.
  • If you believe a stock will go down past a certain price on or before a certain day, you buy puts.
Selling an option obligates you to buy (put) or sell (call) 100 shares of a stock at the strike price on or before the expiration date, really whenever the buyer wants to exercise the option.
  • If you believe a stock is going to trade sideways or drop in price, you sell calls.
  • If you believe a stock is going to trade sideways or raise in price, you sell puts.
The Money
For Calls:
  • At the Money - A call with a strike price equal to the current stock price
  • In the Money - A call with a strike price BELOW the current stock price, can immediately be exercised
  • Out of the Money - A call with a strike price ABOVE the current stock price. The stock MUST rise to or above the strike price to be exercised.
For Puts:
  • At the Money - A put with a strike price equal to the current stock price
  • In the Money - A put with a strike price ABOVE the current stock price, can immediately be exercised
  • Out of the Money - A put with a strike price BELOW the current strike price, must fall to or below the strike price to be exercised
Calls Explained
Buying calls is a bullish strategy and the most popular on this sub, and thus will be covered first. I will be using $MSFT as my example stock. $MSFT is currently trading at $215.17 and I believe that the sale of the new XBox around Christmas time will increase the stock price to $230.0 by Christmas. I would buy a call. I decide to look at the Dec. 31 options which you can see below.
Figure 1
This is Robinhood on a computer. At the top you can see what each thing is which is explained below.
  • Strike Price - The price the stock has to rise above to be exercised
  • Break Even - The price the stock has to rise above to not lose money
  • To Break Even - Percent change in the stock required to break even
  • % Change - Daily change in option price in percent
  • Change - Daily change in option price in dollars
  • Price - Price of the option
In the above example:
  • $215 Strike Price - In the Money, could be immediately exercised, but the buyeexerciser would experience a loss
  • $217.5 Strike Price - Out of the Money, could NOT be immediately exercised.
The Break Even point is always higher than the strike price for calls as you are paying someone to accept risk. This can be calculated by taking the strike price and adding the premium paid for the option. For the 12/31 $230, $230.0 + $1.67 = $231.67. The option CAN BE EXERCISED BELOW THE BREAK EVEN FOR A LOSS.
Buying Calls
Ok, so the 12/31 $230.0 strike is what we are going to buy, that is $1.67 dollars PER share, for 100 shares, so the buyer would pay a total of $167.00 for the trade (depending on the bid - ask, explained in The Details below.) We go ahead an buy that option for a debit of $167.00.
As the month goes on BEFORE 12/31, some things could happen:
  • $MSFT goes up, the value of the option increases and can be sold for a profit at any time
  • $MSFT goes down, the value of the option decreases and can be sold for a loss at any time
  • $MSFT trades sideways, which will result in the value of the option decreasing (explained in Greeks)
On 12/31 if you still hold the option, there are a few possibilities:
  • $MSFT is above the breakeven, we'll say $240.0, you can sell the option for a profit, which would be almost entirely intrinsic value, the contract would be worth around $10.00 ($240.0 - $230.0 = $10.00). This is per share! So your profit would be: ($10.00 x 100) - ($167.0) = $833. The $167.0 is the debit paid for the contract.
  • $MSFT is above the strike but below the breakeven, we'll say $231.00. The contract will be very close to break even, and throughout the day will likely fluctuate to above and below. If you are still bullish on $MSFT, this is the ONLY time I would recommend exercising the option to buy the share (AND ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE CAPITAL TO DO SO). If you are bearish or do not have the capital, your best bet would be to sell the option for a slight loss. In this case it would be around $100. NOTE: ROBINHOOD RISK MANAGEMENT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SELL OPTIONS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CAPITAL TO EXERCISE THEM AND IT IS CLOSE TO THE STRIKE ON THE DAY OF EXPIRATION.
  • $MSFT is below the strike, hold or sell to avoid max loss. Your max loss in the trade is $167 dollars, and the stock may run up towards the end of the day. If $MSFT finishes the day below the strike, the option will expire worthless.
Selling Naked Calls
If you are neutral to bearish on $MSFT because you think the PS5 will outsell the XBox, you could sell the 12/31 $230.0C. See below.
Figure 2
Notice "To Break Even" turns into "Chance of Profit." This is a calculation using the Greeks of your odds of coming out on top in this trade. You sell this call. This would mean you would be CREDITED with $167 dollars initially. As the month goes on, if $MSFT goes up in value, you will begin to lose money on the trade, and if you desired to close the trade you would have to Buy to Close, meaning you payed more for the option then you sold it for. If $MSFT trades sideways or decreases in value, the options contract will decrease and you can Buy to Close the call at a lower price than what you paid for it or just let it expire worthless on 12/31.
SELLING NAKED CALLS CAN BE VERY RISKY. If you sell the call, and $MSFT shoots up the next day to $240.0, the buyer of your contract can immediately exercise the call. This means that you as the seller are OBLIGATED to sell them 100 shares of $MSFT at $230. What happens if you don't have them? You have to buy them at the current market price. So $240.0 x 100 = $24,000. You would then sell them for $230.0: $23,000. Your max loss on the trade will be $24,000 - $23,000 -$167.0 = $833. And that is only if the price goes to $240.0. If the price at expiration is $250, your max loss would be $1,833. For every $10 increase in underlying, the max loss increases $1,000. To avoid this and collect premium you can sell covered calls, to be discussed later.
Puts Explained
Buying puts is a bearish strategy and the second most popular on this sub. $MSFT is still $215.17, and I believe the new XBox sucks. I think the stock will fall to $205.0 on or before 12/31. Below are 12/31 puts.
Figure 3
None of the metrics change, except for what is in and out of the money.
  • $217.5 - In the Money, can immediately be exercised, but the buyeexerciser would experience a loss
  • $215 - Out of the Money, cannot immediately be exercised
Buying Puts
The 12/31 $210.0 strike is what we are going to buy, so that is $3.58 for 100 shares, so if purchased and filled this would cost us $358.0 dollars. Note this is much more expensive than the $230.0 call, this is a result of the strike price being much closer to the current stock price.
As the month goes on BEFORE 12/31, some things could happen:
  • $MSFT goes down, the value of the option increases and can be sold for a profit at any time
  • $MSFT goes up, the value of the option decreases and can be sold for a loss at any time
  • $MSFT trades sideways, which will result in the value of the option decreasing
On 12/31 if you still hold the option, there are a few possibilities:
  • $MSFT is below the breakeven, we'll say $200.0, you can sell the option for a profit, which would be almost entirely intrinsic value, worth around ($10.00). ($210.0 - $200.0 = $10.00) Again, per share, minus the debit, would again get us around $642. Notice how this trades profit was lower with the same difference in strike price to underlying price on expiration. That is because the premium we paid for this trade was higher.
  • $MSFT is below the strike price but above the breakeven, we'll say $207.0. The contract will very throughout the day, and unless you have the capital to exercise Robinhood risk management will likely sell the thing whether you like it or not.
  • $MSFT is above the strike price, you can sell to minimize profit OR hold until it expires worthless.
Selling Naked Puts
If you are neutral to bullish on $MSFT because you think the XBox will be meh, you could sell the 12/31 $210.0P. This means you would be credited with $3.58. If $MSFT decreases in value, the option price will increase in value, and you will lose money on the trade. You can hold to expiration or Buy to Close at any time for a loss. If $MSFT trades sideways or increases in value, the option will decrease in value, and you can Buy to Close for a profit at any time.
THE SAME RISK APPLIES TO SELLING NAKED PUTS AS NAKED CALLS, BUT IS "CAPPED" AS A STOCK CANNOT GO BELOW ZERO.
Options Pricing
The price of an option has two different parts, intrinsic and extrinsic value.
  • Intrinsic Value = |Current Price - Strike Price|
    • An Out of the Money option has no Intrinsic Value
    • An In the Money Option has an Intrinsic Value equal to the difference in stock price and strike price.
    • Example: $MSFT price: $215.17. For the 12/31 $212.5C, this option has an Intrinsic Value of $2.67 for each share, or $267. BUT you can see in Figure 1 it is $7.30, or $730 dollars to buy. That is where extrinsic value comes into play
  • Extrinsic Value
    • Effected by theta and implied volatility
    • Can be calculated by Extrinsic Value = Option Price - Intrinsic Value
    • Theta
      • The more time an option has to expiration, the higher it is priced. This is because the underlying stock ($MSFT) has more time to move.
      • The theta curve accelerates around the 45 day mark, see the figure below. You can see that as an option gets closer to its expiration it will lose value, regardless of if it is in or out of the money IT WILL DEPRECIATE
https://preview.redd.it/knprhfu1iu161.png?width=1094&format=png&auto=webp&s=80a6189eafe6f7fb8662cf5cd467d2c9b588af9d
  • Implied Volatility - a lot of math goes into this one, but its essentially how much a stock is likely to move during a give amount of time
    • Steady stocks, like $KO, tend to have lower IV.
    • High growth stock or stocks that move a lot have higher IV.
    • The IV OF EACH OPTION will be different depending on expiration date, how far In or Out of the Money the stock is, and the movement of the underlying.
    • IV Crush - this occurs often after earnings and results from volatility decreasing. Even with no movement in the price of the underlying an options price can be cut in half if the volatility drastically decreases, decreasing the extrinsic value. BE CAREFUL IF YOU HOLD OPTIONS OVER A STOCKS EARNINGS.
Do I Have to Hold to Expiration?
Lets say we buy the $MSFT 12/31 $230.0C. Do we have to wait until December 31? No. If the underlying increases to lets say $225.0 by next Friday, 12/4, we could sell the option for likely a pretty good profit. We payed $1.67 for the contract, but the price of the Call may increase to $3.67, so we could Sell to Close for a $200 profit, allowing us to move on to another trade. But as we approach the strike delta increases and therefore may be worth holding. The break even information is only if you intend to hold the call to expiration and profit from exercising and then immediately selling the shares back into the market. Due to time and market craziness, I recommend taking profit from the option itself rather than exercising and using the shares.
The Details
Going back to our out of the money 12/31 $230.0C on $MSFT, if you select the option, you will open up the details surrounding that option. This can be seen below.

https://preview.redd.it/9jybsf99ju161.png?width=1156&format=png&auto=webp&s=28414c66b7307b4d47e6841693976f068c0af774
This explains more about the option and can explain why it is priced the way it is. From left to right.
  • Bid - Highest price a person is willing to pay for the option and the amount of options asking to be bought at that price
  • Ask - Lowest price a person is willing to sell the option and the amount of options offered to be sold at that price
  • Mark - Often in between the Bid and Ask, what you see on the main options tree
  • Previous Close - The price of the most recent option sold
  • High - Highest price paid during the trading day for the option
  • Low - Lowest price paid during the trading day for the option
  • Volume - number of contracts traded during the trading day
  • Open Interest - number of total contracts not settled
Bid-Ask Spread is the different between the Bid and Ask, in this case $.19. The closer the bid ask spread, the more likely you are to get an order filled. Slippage occurs as the spread moves up or down depending on if the movement of the stock. If the stock is rising rapidly and you are trying to buy a call, by the time you enter the order the Bid-Ask Spread might have moved up dramatically, and your order might not get filled.
Open Interest is important as well. If very low open interest, Selling or Buying to close may be very difficult depending on how popular the options contract is.
The lower the open interest and the wider the Bid-Ask Spread is, the more likely you are to get fucked by market makers. They will not be willing to meet at the mark or change their bid/ask and will expect you to do it. If they are moving millions of options a day, $.10 is a lot to them and they will profit off of it.
The Greeks
You can see the Greeks listed above for this call.
  • Delta - how much an options price is expected to change for every $1.00 change in the underlying. Calls have positive delta, puts have negative delta. If $MSFT goes from $215.0 to $216.0, the price of the option will increase $.1691. Puts have negative delta because the options price will decrease as the stock price increases. Delta will approach 1 as the stock underlying approaches the strike and moves through the strike, causing a natural increase in intrinsic value.
  • Gamma - the change in Delta for every $1.00 change in the underlying. Gamma increases as the stock approaches the strike price and can be very powerful if the underlying is near the strike.
  • Theta - change in the option price for every 1 day closer to expiration. Theta increases as the option approaches the expiration date. If you hold onto the 12/31 $230C for a day it would decrease in value .06 per contract, so a total of $6. You can see how this is an options buyers Enemy.
  • Vega - How the implied volatility affects the price of the option. A drop in vega will typically cause both calls and puts to lose value. Compare vega to normal levels by looking at other options of other similar underlying. Again, BE CAUTIOUS OF IV CRUSH AROUND EARNINGS.
  • Rho - sensitivity to interest rates, has to do with the U.S. treasury, you have the least control over this and this arguably effects options the least.

Under The Lights: Seaking (Love Cup/Kanto Cup/Open GL PvP Analysis)

Stay safe out there, Pokéfriends, and see you again soon!

that one time i ended up in a hospital while candy flipping

so me n the homies live in the middle of bum fuck nowhere

so were cruising around this town jus zoomin on our boards when the caddy starts picking up speed
i start noticing that i’m kinda losing control and that’s when shit goes down
the speed wobbles
if any of you skateboard you know wtf i’m talking about
i’m like oh this is gonna be fuckin bad when i notice that cowman is also wobbling
i yell out at cowman all like
HIT THE FUCKIN GRASS
hit the grass he did not
i let go of the caddy and was wobbling for a couple seconds before doing a half-jump half-fall and managed to land my upper body in the grassy ditch
laid there for a couple seconds like oh bet i lived
look over and dr corn is laying face first on the pavement, not moving
oh, fuck
at this point dr corn noticed what’s goin on and he’s whippin the caddy around
i’ve got my phone in my hand callin 911 when dr corns all like
NO
NO TIME
and just like that we’ve got cowman in the back seat and we’re flying 120 to the local hospital
i’m in the passengers seat and i feel like i’m in a got damn space ship shit is movin so fuckin fast i almost forgot cowman was damn near croaked in da back
roll up to the hospital and that’s when it all hits me
i’m on drugs
fuck
so now we in the hospital explaining the situation and everything is still moving
voices are fading in and out and i’m just not all there
i snap out of it when i feel a hand on my shoulder
i was expecting it to be dr corn but it was a tall man i didn’t know
“you okay bud?”
fuck no i said to myself
then i started thinking about how good it was i didn’t say that out loud
this thought process makes me start giggling and now from this mans perspective it’s jus some kid that stared him in the eye for 10 seconds and now he’s cackling like a schoolgirl
i realize now that i still haven’t said anything and so i mustered up
yeah i’m vibin
got dammit i fucked that one up
now i’m speed walking to the bathroom trying so hard not to laugh like a fucking idiot when i realize my homie just got knocked the fuck out
oh, damn
now i’m out the bathroom tryna find dr corn and he’s nowhere
well fuck dude now what
i decide im gonna try and call him but when i try to use my phone it’s like i’m looking at fucking hieroglyphs so i decide i’ll just keep looking
turn a corner and i see the strange man i cackled at
nope fuck that i’m going back to the car
now i’m chillin in the car wondering what the actual fuck was going on when my phone starts buzzing
pull that bitch up and oh dope more hieroglyphs
i can make out the answer and decline buttons so i answer that bitch hoping to fucking god it didn’t say “birthgiver”
it was dr corn
dope
he all like dude where the fuck are you and i was like
well
the car
he hangs up the phone
aight well fuck it i’m sure it’s fine
eventually he comes out to the car and he’s like how fucked up are you
i’m like a yung homie saucin
he gives me a look of mild disappointment and tells me to that cowman was awake now and they think he might have a concussion
all good i guess
they gave the lil bastard a CT scan and he did in fact have a concussion, which was a bit of a relief because it could’ve been a lot worse
dr corn was profusely apologizing when the homie cowman comes through all like
don’t stress this’ll be a fire story
love u cowman

A week in the life of your favorite firearm merchant! 2/10/2021

Things have been busy so, I apologize for the delay. I know lots of you love these stories.
Last Friday night...Yeah, I think we broke the law...Always say we're gonna stop, whoa
Friday, or in the alternative: What part of call me was not clear?
I get to my desk at the usual time and deal with the usual bullshit. I got a SCAR 16s here on consignment because a customer of mine bought them from dealers that were less than reputable and lied about the condition of/country of origin of their merchandise. And they swapped sku's and other bullshit gun dealer things.
Trying to be a nice guy, I can charge the guy to box and ship everything back or roll them at top dollar and give him a big stack of blue stripe benjamins. I tell him I'll try and sell them for him and take my cut off the top so we're both making money. He thinks this is a great idea and manages to line up a buyer on his own. I just need to do the 4473 and cut him a check. No big deal, I don't have a problem doing a little extra work for him versus the standard dealer to customer transfer. The guy he sold it to is a semi regular customer of mine and he comes in, bangs out the 4473 and it's about a 90 minute wait on transaction time.
No big deal. Instead of packing up for the gun show, I'm selling other peoples guns. I'll pack up for the gun show tonight and get everything ready when I get home. I need to be up super early and on the road.
I get everything squared off, customer comes in to get his money and drops off ANOTHER SCAR 16s to sell because the dealer pulled a con job. Okay, I can haul it to the show in the AM. I have a SCAR 16s in FDE from him. I have a 5.7 in FDE on the arm from a buddy of mine and a 509 FDE. I'll make a package deal, FDE FN Friday all FN time. Things are looking up!
I clear off all the 4473's for the week and do an audit and I'm down about 75% inventory wise from last year. Things are tight but stuff is trickling in in drips and drabs. Hit the chickfila on my way home for a sandwich and milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard. I'm done eating and getting ready to leave when I get the call.
ring ring
FC: go for FC
1: Mr Hayden sir, can I ask a favor of you?
FC: What up?
1: Got a guy who wants my scar 16 lined up but he has to pay on a credit card. Can you run it for me? You can take a card and cut me a check?
(It's 7PM on a friday night. I still need to pack for the show. By the time I get back it will be 9PM and I still need to shower and get a decent nights sleep. I'm a glutton for punishment)
FC: If you want to get it done tonight, have the guy call me. I'm eating dinner now and I'll head back if he calls me.
1: roger that, I'll pass along your info right now and let him know.
I do a few more emails from the laptop and say hi to the chickfila owner who was friends with my dad and buys guns from me. We chat for a bit and my phone does not ring. Now, gentle readers - I offered to head back at 730PM on a friday to get something done for someone as a favor to them. That should be worthy of "holy shit you are the man for coming back on your own time!" but this was not the case. No phone call means I didn't head back.
I head home, no phone call. Phone about to die. Plug it in and go into my garage and get all my gun show stuff sorted and loaded and organized. My normal display is 3 tables of merchandise stacked and racked on 2 tables. This show it's 1.5 tables of merchandise stretched out on 2 tables. Not good. My back is killing me. I get some ibuprofen and take a hot shower. Grab my phone off the charger. Bunch of missed calls, one email one VM. I return the VM.
1: Hey you must be having a good dinner at chickfila, we've been waiting here in the parking lot for the last hour!
FC: You have? Well, I didn't get a phone call. I'm home and in pajamas.
1: What? He didn't call you?
FC: Nope
1: HEY! YOU DIDN'T CALL HIM? Oh he says he just figured......
FC: No phone call means no turning around to go back to work. We'll deal with it next week.
1: Okay I'll tell him.
I'm a pretty easy to get along with guy. If you ask me a favor, I'll likely do it if it does not interfere with my life too badly. But if you ask me for a favor and you can't follow simple instructions, well then you're wasting your own time. That's no skin off my hide. Failure to follow simple directions on your part does not warrant my bad back bending over backwards to make it right. I climb into bed, I have to be up at 5AM to tank up at the truck stop, grab breakfast on the run and get to this show on the road.
Saturday, in the park. I think it was the fourth of july. People dancing, people laughing. A man selling ice cream. Singing Italian songs....
Showtime Saturday.
My back is stiffer than I'd like. I get down to the show and get loaded in and everything is set up looking spiffy. Not in my normal spot right by the loading dock, much to my chagrin. There's a line that's 1/4 mile long to get into the building. This shit is looking crazy.
Here's the deal, folks. The 4473 isn't hard. It does require attention to detail. Being in therapy with Dr Kaplan, I've learned a few things.
Old FC: Here's the clipboard, call me when you're done.
New FC: Here's the form, I'm guessing you haven't filled this out before. Start on line 9, read this carefully, 18A and 18B are two separate questions that both require answers, 21 L 2 is tricky, you need to read it ALL THE WAY TO THE END before you answer. Sign on 22, today's date on 23. STOP THERE.
With the new spiel, of the 7 forms I was handed on Saturday before noon - guess how many were filled out correctly? I'll make a break here to talk about the bullshit I had to do.
Show Hustler #1: I had a consignment mossberg built in new haven pre 1968. A guy wants to buy it and he's friends with Ray Dalio. Yes, the Ray Dalio. He tries getting me to knock $100 off but I tell him he's nuts. If he's FRIENDS WITH A BILLIONAIRE and lives in GREENWICH fucking Connecticut, you can pay my very fair asking price of about $350 on it. He relents and I give him a small discount and I give him the clipboard.
Show Hustler #2: I got a guy wanting to trade me a 44 Mag Black Desert Eagle for a Colt 1911 I have on the table. Prices are about the same. I tell him I'm not doing the work of selling two guns for the profit of one gun. He tells me I'm not selling two guns, I'm trading one and selling one. That's selling one gun! I explain two entries in my A/D book means I sell two guns, and it's easier for me to sell a NIB Colt than it is for me to sell a used Desert Eagle. Well the DE isn't used! It's unfired! It's brand new! If I didn't get it from a wholesaler, it's used. He says for me to think about it and he'll be at the show. I tell him I thought about it. He says yeah, ready to do an even trade? I say no, now I want your gun plus $1000. He calls me a clown and walks away.
Show Hustler #3: Over the road truck driver wants the FN 5.7 in FDE I have on consignment. Asks for a truck driver discount. He wants it for $1200. I've got it tagged at $1350. I tell him if he can fill out the form straight, no errors I write it at 1200. If there's an error, I write it for $1350. He says he just bought a brand new freightliner cascadia and money is tight. I tell him well we got a bet or what? He nods, I book the action.
Show Hustler #4: Guy wants my 509C. He wants to trade me for a NIB glock even up. I tell him there's no money to be made and selling a used glock gets me less money. BUT ITS NOT USED! ITS BRAND NEW! We go back and forth 9 times about how new does not mean what he thinks it means. I offer him $350 on his trade as credit knowing that $650 on a used glock in 45ACP is all the money right now. He calls me a cocksucker and walks away.
Okay, so 7 form 4473's with an explanation as to all the problem areas before noon on Saturday.....how many were filled out correctly?
If you answered zero, you are right! That means I won the 4473 bet. The 5.7 goes out at top dollar. Winner winner chicken dinner!
I head home and count my money. I need 9 more shows like this and I might finally be able to retire. On the way home I check web orders. Three guys in arkansas have ordered $900 22LR off my website at $150 a brick. I joke about my stash of 22LR being a brand new F350 platinum but at $150/brick that's rapidly becoming a reality.
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday is day 2 of the show. I stop at a local diner and grab corned beef hash and a short stack of pancakes for breakfast. Want to know how good a diner is? If there's real butter with the pancakes and not that bullshit country crock/margarine spread, you know things will be good.
There's butter. It's good.
A very nice Sig 229 in stainless in 9mm comes by from a guy who did business with me years ago. He traded me a Wilson CQB pistol for a Sig 226 and a Springfield Range Officer even up. I had maybe $1600 into that Wilson, I sold it for $2500 a few months later and tucked the money away. When my brother got married, our fucking gigantic family got together the night before the wedding and had dinner. I told him I'd cover it and he's like "are you sure?" and I said, how bad could it be? Not realizing his wife's family is a bunch of hungry alcoholics from cape cod who have never seen an open bar before and are total gluttons when someone else is buying. As it turns out, $2500 covered about half of the F&B, but he seemed appreciative.
Anyhow.
I sell nothing at the show all day and talk with the other dealers and swap stupid customer stories. I pack and head home and I've sold a good bit of stuff of mine and consignments. As I'm making my way out of the building, the wheel comes off the wagon.
This is not a euphemism. https://imgur.com/a/KY5vLCl
I pay off all my friends for their sales, and in the zelle memo field, I break down the transactions as such:
$69.69 - Anal Hook
$350 - Loch Ness Monster Poster
(whatever the balance was after bullshit, I can't remember) - this is from your real dad
I have lots of fun at this job sometimes.
It's just another manic Monday. I wish it was Sunday. 'Cause that's my fun day.
Monday morning I get an email from the fellow who spent his friday night in the parking lot waiting for me. His email address leads me to believe he spent some time at Parris Island or San Diego, because who else uses semper fi in an email address name? He says he can be in after work at 1645 hours sharp and is just down the road. I tell him I'll get everything squared away for him, and I prep the 4473's on a clipboard and get everything set up.
Cleaning up files from the show, closing out 4473's. Down to 249 items in stock. 150 of them are lowers. This is not good. Must strike while irons are hot though. Gotta shear all the sheep while the wool is ready to harvest and prices are high. I have a bunch of personal ammo that will hit the market one POTUS says something stupid. That's not an if, that's a when.
Bunch of phone calls from people seeking 380 and cheap 9mm. I do my best charles bronson impression. "No dice." The emails accusing me of price gouging are fantastic. There's some other idiocy too. I won't post the whole ones but here's a few snippets from the butthurt and the unprepared as well as the idiotic.
I’m just looking for fmj for target practice. Nothing fancy. If you could do them for $400 a case of 1000 I can talk.
FC: I can get you $400/case on 1000 but it'll be foreign made non brass 9mm ammo.
Pretty much what your saying is no matter how much money I try to spend, you’re continuing your get rich quick prices. People like you are direct part of the problem. It’s one thing to make money and it’s another to try to high way rob people. Hope you’re proud of yourself.
FC: I can assure you that this isn't a get rich quick situation. I spent plenty of money investing in half a million rounds of ammo about FOUR years ago during the Trump slump and I'm just getting around to realizing profits now. I am not getting rich, nor am I doing it quickly. I hardly think that any investment that takes 4 years to realize a gain is quick.

Subject: Used Ruger 10/22
Message: I’ll give you 175 for it.
FC: Deal. Can you come by today?
(new message, no subject)
Message: I can come by Tomorrow or Thursday.
(I try calling him. VM box is full)
FC: Great! Lets get it done. Your VM box is full. Tomorrow is better.
(new message, no subject)
Message: I can come tomorrow but I only have 150 I can spend at the moment so I’ll probably wait a few days.
FC: What happened to " I’ll give you 175 for it." a few hours ago?
(new message, no subject)
Message: My bad dude. I have a kid I don’t know what to tell you. And I’m pretty sure I said Wednesday or Thursday. If you really want it gone that bad I don’t see what the big deal is.
FC: I was just expecting you to have $175 ready if you said you wanted to deal......So, will Wednesday or Thursday work this week? Bring me cash and your concealed.
(new message, no subject)
Message: No cwl. But you don’t need one for a private sale. I can have your cash.
FC: No CWL no sale.
(new message, no subject)
Message: Yeah I’ll pass. Good luck. You totally should have mentioned that at the start of negotiations.
FC: What part of my ad that said cash and concealed required was unclear?
Yeah. Fucking mondays.
1630 rolls around and our scar loving jarhead walks in. With his wife. And his children. Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR little munchkins. All without an ipad and disney + streaming to keep them occupied. They're not bad kids, just curious at all the little things I have lying around like lower parts kits, magazines, AAC 51T mounts, stuff like that.
He hands over his ID. I look at the address. It's a city two and a half hours away.
FC: Uh, you're a long way from home.
USMC: Yeah I just moved. I'm putting my new address on this form if that's okay.
FC: You have anything with your new address on it? I can't do anything with ID that's not current.
USMC: It's not expired, it's current.
FC: Where do you live?
USMC: (names address locally)
FC: Then this is no longer current. I need something with your new local address on it.
USMC: Oh then I'll just use the old address on this form then.
FC: That's not acceptable. I need a current government document with your new address.
USMC: Here, I have activation orders and training orders from the army.
FC: That won't work. Government document with your new address.
USMC: Here's my W2 from the DOD.
FC: That's not a government document.
USMC: But the DOD gave it to me! It's FROM the department of defense, which is the government!
(Editors note: Did I mention that I hate mondays?)
sigh
FC: I can call ATF and ask......
USMC: Please do!
(I phone the ATF area supervisor on his cellular device)
ATF: Mr Hayden, how can I help you today?
FC: Barry, I got a funny one. Guy wants to use his DOD W2/activation orders to get his gun since that has his current address.
ATF: Why? Is there a reason he's unable to get an updated drivers license?
FC: That's a good question Barry, let me find out.
(FC puts ATF on speakerphone)
FC: Hey private first class, ATF wants to know why you didn't update your license
USMC: Uh because I've been busy
ATF: Sir, that's not an answer. I was in the military too and I had to change ID's just like you. If I can had to do it you have to do it.
(Barry was a very long time ago a RIO on the F4 Phantom)
USMC: But I have activation orders! and training orders! and a W2!
ATF: Get your license changed over or produce another document for the licensee to process your transaction.
FC: Thanks barry!
I hang up and tell him that's the area supervisor and I'm playing this one the way he tells me. He needs to produce a document compliant with ATF regulations for me to release this firearm.
USMC: Oh by the way there's a guy with my same name that robbed a bank in Detroit last year, I always get delayed anyways.
(sigh)
I type his stuff into the computer and I get a thumbs up from the computer instantly much to his amazement. I fire off a quick email to the guy who owns the scar
Subject: No current ID
Message: your jarhead friend who wants the scar does not have current ID
No deal? Or what's the plan?
My reply is interrupted. Their oldest child admires the batman dollar on my safe. The youngest child is incessantly clicking a spare pilot G2 pen I had on my desk.
Mother: If you click that pen ONE MORE TIME, you are WALKING HOME.
(kid puts the pen down)
Me, whispering to the kid: It's not that far.
(kid picks the pen back up)
Mother scowls at both of us.
I giggle.
I get back to email.
FC: Lets put it this way. You're gonna owe me for this one. Big time.
His wife starts pulling out auto registrations, USAA insurance cards, cable bills, etc with their new address - NONE of which are useful because none of them are government issued. She updates his and her drivers licenses online at the state website and gives me a voter registration printout confirming the update, but that's not a workable document since it's an informational update and not an actual registration.
Customer that owns the scar walks in and witnesses the flurry of kids playing with gun stuff and two grown ass adults trying to make it all work.
It's been 45 minutes of this.
The guy finally gives up and goes on the state website and gets a fishing license and emails it to me. Stacks a big stack of SCAR magazines that NOBODY has in stock to the order and I charge it onto his USAA mastercard. Had I returned to work on a Friday after hours to get an ID that wasn't current, I would have been apoplectic. Now, I'm just mildly annoyed. I can assure you that anyone who has walked through the hallowed halls of MCRD Parris Island should know to have their shit together. This just seemed like some hybrid of cluelessness more than it was an issue of stolen valor. Gun and mags go out the door.
My customer sits down and starts laughing. I look at him totally nonplussed.
1: That was easy, right?
(FC looks nonplussed)
1: An hour worth of work, for $50! That's good! you should do a few of those a day!
(FC looks nonplussed)
1: Really?
FC: You owe me.
I cut him his check and I'm done for the night. I head home.
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too....
Tuesday
Another day, another box of 9mm at $75 each heading out the door.....I'm down to my last 15,000 rds of 9mm. I sold my entire personal stash of Remington UMC at $67 a box. Now that we're into the Federal American Eagle, it's up to $75. People are thanking me for having it available because they've called everywhere.
This morning's "no I don't have it" calls: 380ACP, 30-40 Krag, 6.5 CM, Grendel and Swede, 2.5" .410 slugs, 3 or 3.5" shells and turkey loads.
Now, for the uninitiated: Turkey season is around the corner. ALL the ammo for turkey loads have been purchased by new shooters looking for home defense ammo since last year. Why turkey loads for self defense? That's all the cabelas had....
Come season, there will be lots of very disappointed hunters who were unprepared. Those with ammo will hunt, those without ammo will hunt for ammo, and they will not be successful given the state of the ammunition markets. There is far more money to be made cranking out buckshot and slugs than there are turkey shells.
Package comes in for transfer. Guy has a NJ license. He's just moved here. Has NOTHING with his new address. This is basically a repeat of Monday's SCAR sale. The guy here is ADAMANT that he's bought a home here and he can purchase a firearm without being a state resident.
He's technically right. HOWEVER this is why dealers hate doing things: The gun and sale have to follow both the laws of the state he's in AND the state of New jersey. Now I have to run down all the bullshit that is NJ published ordnances to ensure that this gun is Phil Murphy(TM) approved. For the price of a transfer. BUT WAIT THERES MORE!
The gun is for a BUDDY of his he's giving it to him as a gift when he's down here for a fishing trip in a few days.
https://imgur.com/0cqL7vX
Read that last line.
Yeah. I tell him that it's unlawful for him to dispose of a firearm to a non resident. He's wondering what the fuck to do. He insists on taking delivery. I tell him I need to run it down with the address and everything since his NJ license isn't technically valid since HE NO LONGER LIVES THERE.
The guy bought a double wide trailer here, the trailer park handles all the water, the power, the etc - he does not have any REAL property here. He's insistent that he has a deed for his house. He's holding a bill of sale for a mobile home.
sigh
I tell him we should just get things sent to his friend via an FFL in his state. The guy lines up an FFL and I fedex the gun to the dealer up there. We need ONE UNIFORM SET OF COHESIVE COMMON SENSE GUN LAWS, not one federal set and 50+ subsections on a state level plus NY State HOME RULE BULLSHIT.
I head home early, telemedicine with Dr Kaplan. He's impressed with my progress. I'm not.
There are no songs that have Wednesday that I can think of here
Wednesday, Hump Day
I decide to work from home today. I can take all the phone calls and tell people no I don't have anything from home. I decide to do some early spring cleaning. It's a BEA-U-TIFUL day. The sun is out, nice weather means I can work in the garage for once. I start a load of laundry. Everything starts off fine. I'm sorting through old shot show HK posters when I can smell burning. There's no smoke but I do smell burning. Am I having a stroke? I can't figure it out and I get a load of laundry processed through my carbon neutral solar powered clothes drying system. I start another batch of laundry and hear a massive grinding noise when I should hear the washing machine washing. That burning smell? That was the timer burning up. And I have a full tub of underwear that needs to get done since I'm nearly out. Fuck.
My dad's old toolbox is in disarray. Mine isn't. I quickly grab a few tools. A snap on general service kit is totally overkill, but it's super nice to have EVERYTHING in one spot ready to go. My 1/4 drive ratchet takes apart my washing machine panel with ease. I unplug the timer and hit the electronic bay for a replacement. I find one 2 hours away and they say they can ship immediately on my fedex account. I can get it here tomorrow if they fedex ground it on todays truck. Deal, here's my amex. Email me tracking when it's sent.
One problem arisen, one problem in progress of being fixed. Not bad for before noon.
I get a bunch of stuff stacked up and straightened up and I throw a ton of stuff on facebook marketplace. Old Glock signs and point of sale merchandise like hanging ceiling mobiles, glock pencils, FN pads, FN hats, Daniel Defense stickers and patches, HK pistol racks, some old Colt and Beretta Blue boxes, all that stuff.
People message me about the Colt box. WHATS IN THE BOX they ask.
Well it's an empty fucking box. I made that VERY clear in the description. So what's my witty rejoinder? A youtube link to the scene from Seven with Brad Pitt yelling at Morgan Freeman "WHATS IN THE BOX? WHATS IN THE BOX?!?!!?!"
They are not amused. I think it's brilliant. They ask me what gun is for sale. I tell them it's just an empty box but if they want a gun, here's my info and call me at work during business hours. I'm then told that people selling empty boxes on facebook aren't selling empty boxes, they're selling guns.
This, I did not know.
Armed with this newfound information, I proceed to post more random stuff from my garage for sale in front of a pile of 20,000 rds of 9mm. An old kegerator and some bar equipment my dad had, a Miller Genuine Draft neon sign backdropped with 5 cases of Winchester Q4170 45ACP and 5 cases of CCI Lawman 147gr 9mm. The messages flood in looking to buy my stuff cheap. But I know what I got.
My favorite interaction:
1: hey man, you got anything else for sale?
FC: Tons of stuff for sale!
1: I'm looking for pews.
FC: I got pews, you want to stop by and check out my pews? I got some real nice ones, super nice. Only used on sunday!
1: Yeah man I'm leaving for lunch in 10 min, give me your address
FC: Sure thing! Here's me, be here in 30 minutes!
I continue to clean up my garage and I pull out some of my dad's old auction finds. Under about 200 old polynesian tiki mugs, I dust off some white oak church pews and pull them into the driveway. The guy tells me he wants to see the pews I got, and I point them out to him in the driveway. White oak, great shape - just needs some lemon pledge and they'll be good as new. He calls me a clown, gets in his car and drives off.
What's wrong with these people?
I return to find 254 facebook marketplace messages for people asking me to sell/ship them guns and ammo to all sorts of places and that facebook has suspended my account for violations of their marketplace terms. The offending item? An old Sig Sauer binder that has a P226 exploded diagram on the front. Because firearm parts are not allowed.
I manage to sell on facebook marketplace an old surefire incandescent rifle light, a blue colt mustang box, a few tin winchester ammo signs, some beer neons that belonged to my dad and some soft pistol rugs that I ordered from RSR on clearance. A productive wednesday. My haul nets me after facebook marketplace fees and shipping about $54 on the shipped items and a few hundred bucks in miscellany. I give my business cards to all the folks looking for gun stuff and they seem surprised that I still have ammo and that they've never heard of me. They do all their ammo and gun shopping online and don't do B&M. That's the way things will be in the future.
I head to the tex mex joint for dinner. I chat it up with a very cute blonde that is the manager. She's just moved into a new place after her man chated on her and she ditched that zero. I offer her my stack of bed bath and beyond coupons.
FC: Starting over is expensive. Maybe this will make it a little bit cheaper.
1: Oh my gosh this will save me a bunch of money! Here, your dinner is on me.
FC: It's been a long time since a woman has bought me dinner. Perhaps I should return that favor. Do you like firefighters?
(she cracks a big smile under the mask)
1: I do, but I'm talking to someone right now.
FC: I can see you ditched the zero, but if it does not work out and you want to get yourself a hero - I'm here pretty often. Just ask and I'll take you to dinner at your favorite place.
I manage to get rejected by a woman at the same time she bought me dinner.
That takes talent. I head home, pop some ibuprofen and head to bed. I check my email in bed. There's a tracking number.
PICKUP OCCOURED AFTER FEDEX CUTOFF FOR TODAY, PACKAGE WILL BE TENDERED THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY
You fucking clowns. You had one job. I call fedex and ask them to hold it at the facility 2 hours away. I'll grab it in the AM. They can't even find it. Fuck it. Leave it. I'll deal with it later.
Thursday, I don't care about you
Thursday, or FC makes a new friend!
I head into work a bit early today, as I'm driving down my street, I round the corner and see an older fellow wheeling his trash to the curb. This guy had a '99 Ford F250 extended cab 4x4 with the venerable 7.3 navistar in MINT condition for sale. 129,000 miles, parked in a garage 10 months out of the year. He wanted $16k for this truck and I figured he got tired of tire kickers and lowballs and kept it. I messaged him 3 days after the post went up and I never followed up, I knew the house since I've literally been driving past it MY ENTIRE LIFE on the way to elementary, middle, high school, college and now work.
My passenger window rolls down as I stop right next to the mailbox.
FC: You still got your F250?
1: No! That thing sold in one hour! To a dealer!
FC: Son of a bitch! I wanted that truck, I didn't even know you were selling!
1: Dealer came over in one hour, took a look at it, put cash on the hood, slapped a dealer tag on it and drove it out of here!
FC: Damn! I wish you put a sign on it and I would have stopped.
1: I told my wife I didn't want to sell it to a dealer but my garage isn't big enough!
FC: No kidding. Say, you still got your T bird?
1: My thunderbird? How'd you know I have a thunderbird?
FC: I grew up here! When I was in grade school I'd ride by and you were wrenching on it, when I was in high school, I'd see you wrenching on it from the bus and when I was in college I'd see you wrenching on it on my way home from class!
1: I spent 20 years building that car 2 weeks at a time! You wanna see it?
FC: Well, when you put it that way....
I pull off into the grass. He's got a detached 3500 square foot garage with Snap On's Mr Big not 1 but 2 ben pearson four post lifts. He shows me his thunderbird he's been working on for two decades. We get to talking. He's a commercial alaskan fisherman and he spends 10 months of the year in alaska and seattle running boats. Super nice guy. He asks me what I do for work, and I tell him. He tells me all his friends are scrambling for ammo and he didn't think it was that bad. I tell him it's been that way for about a year. He needs 00 buckshot, 8 or 9 pellet. I just got a small delivery. I tell him I can get him some. I give him my card and tell him call me this afternoon and I'll throw a few boxes in my briefcase and I'll deliver them on my way home. I'm asked about my watch, he's apparently a GMT man as well. We both like fords and stainless GMT's. Nice. He tells me the story about how he accidentally welded the band to his boat in the bering sea while doing repairs with a stick welder.
FC: What do you catch?
1: Pollock, cod
FC: long line?
1: No, trawler..... You know your commercial fishing.
FC: I know my customers.
Impressed at my substantial seafood knowledge, he tells me he'll call me after he checks his safe. I head into work and get some more stuff done.
I get a call from a referral. This guy was busted for selling pot and spent 8 months in miltary prison at Leavenworth. He's wondering if he can still own or have a gun with a bad conduct discharge. I'm not sure. I call my retinue and we agree that it's worthy of research and we should do a bar journal article about it. I love it when a plan comes together.
Doctor lady and her husband come in and their attorney has told them that without a trust, their silencer order will need to be approved by the CLEO of the region. This is why people hate lawyers. I get all their stuff drawn up as they requested with two trusts and interlocking responsible parties. Double the prints and plenty of passport photos all around.
Dead Air is behind on pistons and mounts, as usual but I'm assured by the big man in charge that they will be at wholesalers shortly. I'm so scrambled that I forget to charge her for two cans. No big deal, I'll email her and deal with it when I get her the mounts.
I have a facebook marketplace post up for an old Glock brand Pistol case and some glock brand ear pro. Here's the message:
Hi Will it's John from facebook marketplace I was looking at the glock bb gun and head phones will you show me a pic of the actually glock and does it have a clip and a slide,,??¿?? My old one did but I left it at my apartment I was sharing with friends but I miss having it lmk asap please and thanks sincerely Jeff K.
FC: Lets start here. 1. I don't sell Glock BB guns. 2. I don't have head phones. Were you only interested in BB guns?
Ya I was on Facebook marketplace looking for BB c02 pistols
sigh
I go truck shopping online. A guy has a 2011 F250 diesel for $24k. Except it's not a 2011. It's a 2001. I don't know what's more absurd, a 2011 at $24k, when average retail is a shade under $20k or a 20 year old truck selling for half of MSRP.
I'm ready to give up on this. Truck prices are stupid. I check my email. Timer in transit, Fedex has it en route.
I head home and pop a flexiril and head to sleep. The flexeril isn't fixing any of my muscles but manages to knock me the fuck out quite nicely. I need to be up early.
Just got paid, Friday night....
Friday, or FC vs The Washing Machine
As a kid, I always played with my dads toolbox. I took apart tons of stuff and had no idea how to put it back together. Some kids when they're in the tender years made birdhouses and small woodworking projects and it was super fun for them to pretend. Me? I took apart a 1 horse GE electric blower motor my dad short circuited on accident and made a pretend General Electric first generation boiling water nuclear reactor. Which was not really easy to do given the fact that the internet didn't exist in the early 90's. You had to have some modicum of imagination, and in that case your design was neither right nor wrong because nobody could easily prove your design accurate or otherwise. I had effectively built Schrodinger's BWR. I used different colored and sized tapcons and red heads for fuel/control rods if anyone was wondering. I think I can handle the washing machine. Just for good measure I put on my Cal Tech shirt.
As I warm up breakfast, I get an email from a guy named Eddie. He wants to see some 40S&W pistols. I tell him I have a busy morning. I can find some time for him around 10AM if he wants to stop by and I'll have what he's looking for ready.
My fedex guy stops at the Boeing facility first thing in the morning to drop off parts at the loading dock, I know his schedule so I pull up to the dock and hang out there waiting for him. Jeff is right on time and I snag my washer timer. No email back from Eddie so time to head back home to put everything back together. I'm in the middle of buttoning it up when I get a call.
Eddie is standing in my parking lot wanting to check out some 40S&W pistols I have in stock. I tell him all my available inventory on the website and that if he wanted me to have everything ready for him at 10AM, he should have given me an affirmative reply or a phone call. Right now, clean underwear is a priority and Eddie seems to understand this and he says he will chat with me later.
I head back to work. The entire parking lot smells like weed. There's a VW microbus parked on the far side of the lot and I'm downwind of it.
This is not a coincidence.
Wholesale rep tries to sell me $700 complete andersons again with a min order of 50. Pass.
I get a bunch of messages from other dealers looking to buy ammo off me and resell it to their customers at "reasonable" prices and I tell them they are fools for selling stuff cheap. They just don't get it and they'll be out of business soon.
I get a call from a guy wanting ammo. He wants all my 22LR. I tell him the price and he says "I can't make a profit selling it at those prices!"
This is the reason regular people can't buy ammo just FYI.
It's Friday again. I've got another gun show to prep for. New product just rolls in on the UPS truck. A few glocks, a few shields, and for some reason the rep sent me 5 sets of rear MBUS sights instead of 5 front and 5 rear. Ugh. I manage to get a small allocation of 9mm in on this truck as well as 11 boxes of 10mm! This year is looking better by the week!
I get several calls for AAC mounts that nobody has in stock and the owners are totally confused. One guy had a can and was selling a rifle and sold the ONLY mount he owned for that can to the guy buying his rifle for $200.
He was under the impression that you could just call AAC and order another mount for $112. I tell him if I can find what he's looking for, I'll need to buy it for $250 from someone and that it will sell for $350-500 by the time I mark it up. He's super confused as to why everyone is running out and buying AAC mounts and why they can't be ordered. I explain AAC/Remington's two bankruptices in 5 years. He is even more confused. I finally blurt it out.
You had ONE mount for your can. You sold it. There are no other mounts. You have paid a tax stamp for and own a can that YOU CAN NO LONGER MOUNT because you sold them. He now realizes the error of his ways. Nothing I can do about that.
Second guy tells me he sees I have AAC mounts. He needs one for his can. I ask him what model he has. He has to crack open the safe.
1: It's an Advanced Armament Corp Norcross Georgia
FC: That's the manufacturer......
1: It's a.........ZERO ENNN DASH ZERO EFFF EFFF
FC: It's a what?
1: It says on the side ZERO ENNN DASH ZERO EFFFF EFFFF
(Editors note: https://www.advanced-armament.com/assets/products/762-SDN-6.png )
FC: That's not the model.
1: It's not? Then what did I read to you?
FC: That's not a zero. That's the letter O.
  1. The number O?
FC: O. As in Oh. ENNNN. Dash. Oh. EFFF EFF.
1: I'm confused.
FC: You just read the directions to take the can ON or OFF.
1: Huh that would explain the arrows wouldn't it......
FC: Yeah. What model do you have?
1: It's an MK13-SD!
FC: You need a 90T ratchet mount.
1: Great! You stock em, right?
FC: Nope.
1: But your website has some, those will work right?
FC: Unless you need 51T mounts, I can't help you.
1: Can you suggest someone that can? I need mounts.
FC: AAC is gone, these mounts may never be made again.
1: Shit.
Not to be out done, I get one more phone call.
1: hey this is brent, I need an AAC mount
FC: What model you got?
1: 7.62
FC: Right, thats the caliber.
1: RS7!
FC: SR7?
1: That's the one! I need an SR 7 mount in 5.56, the one I have is in 7.62
FC: Got four here. $400.
1: I just need one.
FC: That is for one.
1: WHAT? FOR ONE? Why's it so expensive?
FC: Remington went under. These may never be made again. I've been buying up everything I've been able to find so I can run the table.
1: That's a good business move.
FC: Not my first rodeo.
1: Well for $400 I'll just take a mount off a rifle I'm not using and I'll set that up. Thanks anyways.
(90 minutes later, my door swings open)
FC: What can I do for you?
1: I'm brent, we talked about that RS7 mount.
FC: SR7.
1: Whatever. I got this here and it does not even fit! It's for the wrong rifle! I need the right mount, this one is in 5.56 I need the one for the 7.62
FC: Lemme see what you got.
(Looks at package. AAC 90T TAPER MOUNT FH SR-5 5.56 1/2x28)
FC: What are you mounting this to?
1: AR15 in 223
FC: This is the correct mount.
1: No it's not! It does not fit!
FC: Does not fit barrel or can?
1: The can! I mounted it to the barrel and the can won't work! Need the one for the RS7!
FC: SR7
1: Whatever! I have a 7.62 can, this mount is for 5.56 and it's the wrong one.
FC: Who sold you this mount?
1: The gun store across the street from my house.
FC: You live an hour away, why didn't you go there?
1: I did, they don't have this mount in 7.62, I went there first.
FC: And they didn't explain this to you?
1: What is there to explain? This mount is marked 5.56. My can isn't 5.56. It's 7.62.
FC: Oh, so you want the one marked 7.62 in 1/2x28.
1: Exactly!
FC: 7.62 mounts aren't made in 1/2x28, all the 90T mounts are 90T exterior and the threading internally is different.
1: You're wrong.
FC: Please, argue with the guy wearing a caltech shirt.....
1: Prove it.
(I open his package and I grab an SR7 out of the safe. I press the latch down and thread it on)
1: You son of a bitch.
FC: You want to argue with me some more?
1: So what mount do I need?
(I pull out one of my mounts and show him side by side they're exactly the same)
1: Hmmmm. Okay. I must have done something wrong.
FC: There's not a lot of ways to do this wrong, but you found one. Go try it again.
(90 minutes later he calls back and tells me I was right)
What the fuck is with all the AAC people this week that are totally clueless?
But hey, at least I have clean underwear.
